I am in hospital after being transported here yesterday morning with stomach pains, swelling and crazy stats. I have been waiting for a CT-PA perhaps this morning, Saturday? I had two procedures planned in Manchester for Monday 10th but now cancelled. On Thursday 13th an appointment for the results of PET Scan bit won't be going there because I'm here. So I can tell you no results at all and stuck here without any belongings in an ,'amber alert' Covid-19 side room because that's where all respiratory problems go before being diagnosed. A calamity for me as yesterday a young, new doctor asked me about DNR? That was harrowing! I have no clothes or hairbrush 😉and no visitors so I feel really estranged.
I will keep you up to date, I just wanted some conversation this morning 👍🏽🤗
Weather here is rainy and cool. Have a great weekend, your roving reporter, Spicy Bev🤗👍🏽
All keep well and safe!💐🌹

Bless you Bev, sending virtual hugs your way and hope something gets done today. What a calamity for you.
I think the DNR conversation is unpleasant but I suppose the hospital feels it’s necessary. It’s just you’re at your most vulnerable when they ask you that question. Pete was distraught when suffering from sepsis, he was asked about DNR at 7am one morning. No support at all and I was very angry.
Oh Dear Bev, again, I am sending all my Virtual hugs to let you know I /We are thinking of you. as Carole says The Hospital young Doctor has to Ask you these Deflating Questions. They are told to do this regardless. We are all thinking of you Dear Bev. Much Love & gentle Hugs, Keep up with your "Reporting". get Better asap. C. XXX
So sorry to hear this it must be awful to be rushed in with no belongings and all your appointments and results on hold. I am sure they will sort you out soon and someone can bring your things to you. Just wishing you better soon xx
How very insensitive to have that conversation so early on arrival, I would be feeling so upset about that too, albeit I know it is their jobs!
So sorry you are feeling so unwell and they allow you to see your family and friends this weekend and that the hospital were able to source you some toiletry items.
Get better really quickly spicy fruit Bev,get a hair brush and get rid of that idiot of a doctor, above all else get home soon. Sending love and good vibes to help you get through this quickly.
Hi Bev. So sorry you’ve had to face this shock arrival at hospital. The question about DNR is routine but obviously hasn’t been handled very well, another shock!
Do hope you’re feeling a bit better soon, small steps...🌸
Maybe you can get personal stuff sent up from the shop if only way, hairbrush anyway??
I do hope you can get back to your appointments at the Christie, even if delayed a bit.
Sorry to hear that you are not well, praying you get well soon. Hope your stay in hospital won't be too long. You take care try and have a good day 😊 Bernadette xx xx 🌈
Hi Hon after having several emergency admissions to hosp with nothing but the clothes I’m wearing I fully understand how you feel. I hope you get some personal stuff soon.
I very much feel for you, having been in a similar situation when I was an emergency admission to hospital last month with respiratory problems. I had the DNR question at a very early stage too.
I hope that your doctor is able to get to the bottom of your problems soon and that family or friends will be able to get some belongings to you soon. The hospital I was in had a drop off system for belongings being brought for patients due to the ban on visiting.
Sometimes following procedures takes over from common sense with hospital staff, and they don't consider the stress discussing DNR when people are at a low ebb feeling poorly. Sometimes I think the 'good old days' of doctor deciding every case individually and doing what's best for patients are preferable to micro managing everything on admission. Hope you get better very quickly and get home soon. Very best wishes to you.
Awe Bev my heart goes out to you. Bad enough your results and upcoming tests are on hold but then the shock of an unplanned admission with no personal stuff or visitors. The hospital usually have toiletries to help you temporarily. I hope you get moved out of amber soon and can have visitors. You would then at least feel a bit more human.
I hope they get to the bottom of the reason for this admission and wish you well with all the stuff in Manchester.
Please if you feel up to it keep in touch with us.
Oh bev what a mess, especially as the important appts have been cancelled, but the swelling and stomach pains are horrific, I'm trying hard not to call the white van men, as my fortnightly ct scan is sunday afternoon 5.30pm. Hope you feel a little easier and can be moved soon. Take care bev onwards and upwards janex
Some hospitals have care packages of toothbrushes and hairbrushes etc, is that available at yours? Or is there anyone who can drop a few things off for you?
I’m also sorry you faced a difficult and insensitive conversation. You can always ask for the dr to speak to any family members about it too. Whether anyone decides they do or do not want to be resuscitated, you should never feel pressured when you’re feeling vulnerable.
Poor you, I hope you’re feeling better soon. I have been in hospital three times this year and have been asked each time about DNR. Apparently the doctors were instructed to because of the pandemic. Like you I did not have Covid-19. I’m not sure how I felt about being asked, especially as the first doctor was quite abrupt. When I saw the chaplain I suggested that some training be given to the medical staff as to how to approach it. All the best for a speedy recovery xx
Ahh you poor thing ! Try not to worry about not having your stuff the hospital will have the basics. Also the DNR is standard I’m afraid and everyone has to be given that option these days! Hope you can get someone to drop you anything if you r need is urgent at the hospital reception? Just try to relax and get better soon . Hope they get to the bottom of it, make you better soon and corollate your other appointments and results too. This pandemic is slowing everything down enough let alone having so many different hospitals and departments involved. Rest.... get this sorted.... one step at a time. All the best Cx
Aww no! Horrible having to be in hospital without any personal belongings & no one to be able to bring them. Hospital should give you basic things...comb, toothbrush and toothpaste etc. You might even get some funky red socks 😂
Really hope you get better soon!!!!
We’re all here thinking of you and sending hugs! 🤗
Just wanted to wish you all the best and let you know you have many friends here thinking of you.
Take Care
X
Sorry to hear about your situation. Its bad enough being in hospital without not having your bits and pieces. I too have been asked about DNR. It was a bit of shock and it wasn't done with any sensitivity either. I feel for you. I hope you feel better soon. Takd care x
Hope they soon get you sorted out and you’re on your way home. I have my DNR done and always take it with me on admissions to hospital and the relief on the younger doctors faces when I tell them shows they don’t like mentioning this.
Sorry to hear your back in hospital, I hope you manage to get some of your stuff soon. Thinking of you Bev and sending you love and hugs (((💖))) 🌺🥀🌹🌷🌸💓🌸🌹🌷🥀
Dear Spicy Bev, keep your chin up and just keep taking things one day at a time. We're all rooting for you. Hope you get some of your belongings with you soon: they will help to make a difference.
How awful for you Bev, I hope you have some belongings now. A girl needs her hairbrush to face the world. Sorry to hear you're in hospital and no results now. Take one day at a time, chin up soldier Bev, find that strength inside that you have. Sending you virtual hugs. Anita x
