Testing in Residential homes MUST be more often.

Sharon has come home with testing news. All the residents are now testing as negative, great news.

There were 5 staff tested as positive So Sharon is back on 72 hour shifts again. Weekly testing is just not often enough. The Gov need a kick up the backside to sort this out.

All it takes is one to catch it and they can then spread it to others, all inside a week easily. Testing really has to be no less than twice a week, IMHO. The residents were lucky this time, will they getaway with it a second time.

That’s why I won’t go back to work in my nursing home. It only takes one and it’s spread around the whole home.

There needs to be more thought as to what staff and their live in relatives do. I was looking at the safety measures County Cricket had set in motion for doing a restart. Whereas the International games had gone into various "Bubbles" where they isolated from all but each other for up to 3 months ( including back in their own countries). The County game drew up Codes of Conduct type contracts, for the players, I understand that they had to agree, not to go into restaurants, pubs, clubs etc (and I am presuming isolate from family members who did) anything to reduce what might be taken into their "work". It would be interesting to know, where some of the staff caught the Covid in the first place. I know my Care Agency Carer takes great care about what she does in her personal time, as she is so aware about bringing in anything from the general population. Even 2 or 3 times weekly tests might still miss some. But I agree better than nothing.

This is also very close to my heart as my 94 years old Dad is in a Care Home. They've been exceptional in vigorous testing of all staff and residents since March. They'd had a clean bill of health ........until........almost 2 weeks ago and a temp staff member came back ad positive. She only was a n avtivities co-ordinater and about 5 hours can be when she was infected and on "duty". So its been taken at the worst scenario and Lockdown has /will be a month. So 2 weeks to go before any through the window are allowed. They are monitoring all residents and staff alike. Very lucky they can afford to buy PPE and Testing kits. You worry about Sharon and I 100% understand your concerns. It is frighteningly alarming at the still, never present ,actual backing of the Care Homes and their staff, by our Government. I'm not sure if there's a petition for the Government to initiate a vitally important meeting with CEO's of Care Homes and reps of staff to get a bloody grip on the sutuation because a 2nd wave woukd be almost suicidal for these people. 🐿🌈

Absolutely agree 2g. It really doesn’t make sense. You would think they would have learnt lessons from neglecting the care sector from the get go and all the loss and outbreaks that caused. I am hoping more local authorities take over the track and trace as they are having a much higher % success rate. A young Asian woman was on TV and she was saying when somebody gets a call from a number they don’t recognise, as with the Govs calls, the don’t often answer. Whereas she calls from a local number and is getting a 98% contact success rate.

Bloody Russian roulette ! Please god let them get the 2 minute testers out soon so everybody can get tested every day before entering a care facility etc etc.
