Hello, I'm looking for private health insurance due to ongoing issues with gp's etc. I'm a smoker too unfortunately (I'm trying to quit) of which I know affects the premium. Any recommendations appreciated.
Can anyone recommend a good health in... - Lung Conditions C...
Can anyone recommend a good health insurer please?
I don't know but just wanted to wish you all the best and good luck with trying to quit smoking 🌈
Thankyou very much. I have to do this...lots of years wasted on it...unfortunately I enjoy it
Hi Bunny, buy the book "The easy way to stop smoking by Alan Carr" he will explain why you think you enjoy smoking. You can get it used very cheaply online. I stopped when I read through this book and that was over 10 years ago. Allow yourself a free day where you can read it right through and good luck x
Thankyou for your advice, I have already read it, i seem immune to it though unfortunately, crumbs, I've failed already today, i just don't know how to get it out of my head.
My sister and her husband are with BUPA. She rates them, but I don’t know how much it costs.
My brother in law has had a hip and a knee replacement through them.
Thankyou, I've been pricing up all afternoon, because I've been a smoker it's looking to be about £65 per month, it's really tricky making sure I'm covered correctly because of how the small print is worded, I have multiple symptoms but no diagnosis, I'd hate to have referrals and investigations and then they say I'm not covered.
Suggest you have a chat with potential insurers before purchasing. I know you haven’t a definitive diagnosis but they may well not cover you because this is preexisting condition/symptoms.
Sorry to be negative but as with most insurance they will try to avoid paying out. Hence won’t cover for known issues.
I agree with Bevvy. These insurance companies will not cover consultations, tests or treatment for any symptom or condition that a GP or any other medical practitioner has been consulted about. They are delighted to sell you the policy but tend to fudge over this until you receive your policy or try to claim and they discover that you have already consulted someone or had a related test.
Hi there,
I've found in the UK none of these medical insurers offer you anything much. Good luck anyway, Bunny 👍🏽🍀🌻
I agree with Littlepom and gingerapple about this. My husband and I were covered by BUPA for a couple of years but then realised we were paying through the nose. My father paid BUPA for years but then all his medical treatment was carried out on the NHS anyway!
We decided long ago that it was better to put the money you would have paid to the insurer into a 'Health' account and then use that to fund anything that you need to have done privately.
My chest physician doesn't do private work anyway. if you are going privately you have to be really careful how you choose your specialist.
