Hello, I'm new here and feel like a fish out of water at the moment. I have a few problems with my health, nothing to compare with some I hear about so I won't ramble on too much about what's going on with me, hearing about others is what I really want to do, Thanks.

Welcome John, it would be nice to hear about you too as you are now part of a great forum.

I care for Pete, my husband, who has several health issues including sarcoidosis, COPD and back problems. He has a positive attitude to life but struggles at times.

Take care xx

Do tell us about yourself. Do you have a diagnosed lung disease?

johnrreally profile image
johnrreally in reply tomrsmummy

In all honesty I have not been diagnosed with anything because being a real coward I won't go to the doctors and tell them, I'm approaching 65 and have been a smoker for the great majority of those years, terrible I know but there it is. I have quite a few things going on that would suggest a lung problem of some kind but I will cope with that for now.

Here's something to think about. I learned the hard way that ignoring things does not make them go away. :)

It can however lead to them getting much worse.

Thank you and I will of course think about that. At the moment I'm going through the guidelines so I understand how to properly use the site.

Good!! Better to get the ball rolling and find out what's going on and them it can be dealt with.

Hi John and welcome to the forum. Pull up a chair and chat to us for a while.

johnrreally profile image
johnrreally in reply toBilliejean_2

Hello and thanks I would like that, but am I only supposed to talk about health issues?

Billiejean_2 profile image
Billiejean_2 in reply tojohnrreally

Not exclusively but it's usually a good place to start as it's what we all have in common. If you scroll through the posts you'll see that people post about lots of things - pets, gardens, hobbys, holidays, to mention a few plus jokes, humour , etc. When you do post, you will be offered different categories to describe your post. One of them is 'general chat' so if you tick that box then it's fine to talk about whatever takes your fancy. Obviously, there are restrictions on certain topics but you can read about all of this on the forum guidelines.

But that's all for another day, please feel free just to chat and introduce yourself.

Hi nice to meet you. It's much more important that you get to your doctor and get some action rather than worry about finding your way round here.

Now stop shillyshalliang and get your a.... there now! Do as you are told.

Welcome!

Welcome John. This is a brilliant forum. As the others have said there is a range of things to talk about, few are off limits. We all get so much from being members. Sharing stories, advice, sometimes offering support, at others needing to offload our concerns and worries.

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Hi John, and welcome. As a couple of people have suggested, getting to the doctor is likely to be the best thing you can do for yourself. A few years back I had a cough for ages, telling myself it was nothing, or maybe an allergy (to various pollens, moulds, foods etc) and would be OK. But it drove my partner mad and she persuaded me to go to the GP. After loads of tests, found I have Sarcoidosis. Diagnosis meant treatment, yay! And now I no longer have a regular cough and my grumpy level has been Normal For My Age for quite a long time. ;-)

Welcome, Johnrreally, nice to have someone who wants to listen. We do not talk all health here but is nice to know a little about who we are chatting to. I'm retired with several illnesses including lung ones, at the moment I am trying to get my bathroom more equipt for my needs which so far is a disaster, but I'm getting there as british rail would say. :)

It's best to bite the bullet and see the doctor instead of worrying.

I often feel I'm on BLF under false pretenses. My original problem seems to be resolved after a bronchoscophy. Just on 2 inhalers. Then tablets for blood pressure and underactive thyroid, ointment for very dry eyes.

But I stick around to show hospital/test results aren't always bad. :)

Oh, I'm 60
