Oh well read the guidelines , like many others I take that with a pinch of salt . I have decided to apply to the JobCentre to be considerd for the Limited Work Capabilitly Assement . As i'm Stage 3 COPD , I feel this is my next step to at least try and protect what's left of my health . Currently as i'm sheilding i'm not required to look for another job , fair enough but if the sheilding it lifted on the 1/08/20 then I will be required to do so . I have zero qualifications and mostly do driving jobs in a van normally . I am also almost 61 years of age . Personaly I think my outlook is rather bleak . Managed to get though this 1st phase of lockdown only had a few dark days , so a few more weeks of this shouldn't be a issue , however once the 1st of August gets here , I feel then will time for me to worry about my future .

I also got a letter this morning, looking forward to being able to go see my grandchildren. Have a good day and take care 😊 Bernadette xx xx

Same here, I would really like to meet up with friends but social distancing with no coffee shops and eating houses open even out door ones, still makes things difficult. I will just have to keep doing things solitary before the winter sets in again. Although I may end up risking something in august or September.

Stay well Bob and everyone.

Pete had his letter too but we’re taking things very cautiously anyway regardless of 1st August. I do hope you can get something sorted out though Bob and do feel for you. Xxxx

I never got a first letter let alone a second but i got the government goody box and a mail from Sainsburys . Reading Hu posts makes me glad that i do at least get my pension even if i am nearer the exit. door. They are going to restrict that too as we might get a massive increase in 2022 . Removing triple lock . Can't have pensioners getting more, even if prices do go through the roof.

I do feel for you. When you get to a certain age you just dont need the hassle. I had to go for an Eesa assessment a couple of years ago, even though at that point I had just 6 weeks to go before I retired. Mad system. I would definitely apply, you've got nothing to lose. Wishing you loads of luck. X

Good luck with your application. I think you're wise to take that course of action.

Best of luck with the Job Centre Bob. Apply for Attendance Allowance if you haven't already.

Doh!! Sorry Bob. Age Concern are very knowledgeable about all benefits etc. Definitely make an appointment with them for advice. Good luck with everything.

Hi Bob

Have you thought about applying for Attendance Allowance. This is NOT a means tested benefit. It may well allow you to apply for lots of other benefits or you could go for early retirement on health grounds. I'm sure your GP or hospital would be willing to add their eight i.e. a letter etc., This benefit was suggested to me by a friend last year (no-one ever tells you anything about benefits do they - not even the COPD Nurse or w 74 and get the highest payment available - please be aware that if you have a husband/partner the thing they must NOT do is apply for Carers Allowance if you get the Attendance Allowance because what they get will be DEDUCTED from your Allowance when you get it or vice versa.

Please be aware that you must apply for the forms but I strongly recommend that you arrange for Age Concern to come to your home to "help" you to fill them in for you. They will ask your partner/spouse if they give you any help at all and if they do then it is all to the good.

Please remember to answer the questions as to how things you cannot do anymore impacts on your life on a "bad day" not a good day and a little logical exaggeration never hurt anyone.

So please try not worry just go for it

Good luck. xxxx

Sorry. Goal posts keep on moving and will probably continue to do so.

Maybe early retirement on health grounds would be the way to go unless the goal posts have been moved yet again.

Keep safe
