I don’t know the drug you are talking about, but my dad was put on riveroxiban or was it riboroxiban which did the same job as warfarin without the hassle of regular blood tests and food watching. Maybe this is the same kind of drug? If it is, it might well be worth changing.
They want to change my dad from warfarin. He has been on warfarin for years and is 85yrs old.
He (not unreasonably) wants to stay as he is and not mess meds about.
My dad was changed onto Warfarin from something I can't remember the name of, he wasn't happy about the change, though he still had to be careful of what he ate, and get the blood tests (INR?) every few days even with the other medication.
I changed over some time ago was on Warfarin from 1992 seems strange not having the bloods but it seems okay as far as I can say. You have to take it twice a day as it as a short half life but other than that I am not worried by it.

Yes I w,as on rivaoxban for.six months by my consultant for lung clots and they where very good and they did the job they were supposed to as we say lung clot busters
Hello Masteryoda. Not sure if this helps I had a blood clot in my shoulder September last year 3 weeks after having a Pacemaker fitted. I had to go on 3 months course of Apixaban daily injections i did myself Just to sort the Clot out. I was told i could only go on them for 3 months no longer because they affect the kidneys And i already have Chronic kidney disease anyway. So you may want to ask about that 1st. Sadly 1 treatment they give you to help with 1 problem creates another Hope you go on ok Brian
My husband is on apixaban twice daily 12 hrs apart he had no problems at all just the odd small nose bleed not allowed to take ipubroaphen been on it 3 years
he is 83 yrs old
Good luck
Hi my husband has been on apixiban for a couple of years .he first went on these four yrs ago while in spain when he was taken ill.when we returned he was not prescribed these as were more expensive than warfarin but we persistent as they do not require the continual monitering of blood as does warfarin. Steve has a brain condition which limits his capabilities to manage his medication.they have been excellent with no problems at all.
Hi, yes I changed over 18 months ago. No problems and no more trips to surgery for blood tests. Take care Maximonkey
There is an antidote to warfarin, Vitamin K. There aren't antidotes to the new anticoagulants. This means if the patient has a bleed, accident etc then the bleeding can be slowed or stopped for warfarin users, but not for the others. Warfarin need regular testing, the others less so. So you need a personal risk assessment.
2peopke in my group, have been changed from warfarin, and it seems to suit them, you only need your blood checked twice a year with the alternative, it's because of covid I think, so they haven't got patients coming in every week etc to have their bloods checked.
