Pleural effusion

Hi I'm andy I'm 46 about 2 or 3 months ago I was struggling with my breathing and had chest pains and went up into my left shoulder and my pulse rate was hitting 131 bpm I rang 999 straight away and the doctor told me when I was 230 ward that I had pleural effusion and I looked it up on NHS website it worried me and got have a ultrasound scan. I'm worried as not knowing what sort of pleural effusion it is.

Hi Andy, the trouble is when doctors drop disease names or medical terms into the conversation, especially when we’re already scared and ill we’re often so shocked we forget to ask questions. Don’t drive yourself insane by reading the internet and perhaps make a list of questions and ring your doctor? Push for that ultrasound scan! Good luck

Thank you sparkywoo I am worried and the only reason I looked on the NHS website to what pleural effusion is as I've never heard of it before the doctor told me when I was admitted to hospital and I will write the questions down and sometimes u don't always think about asking questions as it a shock to the symptom.
