A pet that inspired the book A Street Cat Named Bob has died aged 14.

James Bowen met Bob in 2007 during his battle with drug addiction when he found the cat abandoned and injured and decided to look after him. He began taking the ginger cat with him when busking or selling The Big Issue in London.Bowen eventually wrote a book about their relationship which became a smash hit and was made into a film, featuring Bob, in 2016.

They were meant to be together and what a life Bob had. Several books and lots of adventures later dear Bob has now gone. He saved James’s life and James saved his. Lovely story. RIP Bob. Xxxx

Yes a friend gave me the book some years ago and I really enjoyed it.

Bob was a wonderful cat and a wonderful companion to James.

He will be sorely missed.

Awe that’s sad. They saved each other. His book was heartwarming - I bought it for my granddaughter. I hope James is coping without his special companion,

Love cx

Thankyou, for posting this ,I had just heard the announcement on the news as well as programme 2Loose Women" I remeber thinking out loud I wonder whats happened to Bob that was at least a month ago....I have the dvd film and books. The story is remarkable and I loved the bond between them .IM sad today ,for lovers as well as James Bobs owner.but all things life for both animals and people have to end-------and IM sure they may well be a final book...Iknow that animal/cat was a God/send and I believe that their spirit live on....my own wee cat passed too young ,half the life of Bob,but it was meant to be.!!

How very sad. I loved the book, very touching - so amazing that animals can make connections with troubled individuals. Thanks for letting us know 2G.

Sad Bob has died but my thoughts are with James who must miss him so much. The relationship between the two of them gave a lot of pleasure to people . Poor guy .... sad time for him.

Only a few months ago, I saw the movie for the first time and heard about them. A lovely, inspiring story. Rest In Peace Bob and all the best James.

From what I last read James now has a lovely partner. They met through Bob and she and Bob got on quite well.
