Studying the bananas

Lined up on the shelf

Only those at their very best

Are the bestest for your elf

Some there are as green as green

Long before they are ripe

Others have some black bits on

Which shows that they're not right

They are only ripe for minutes

So I think the proper trick

Is to make your choice then run back home

And scoff them pretty quick.

Gone off bananas Don as can’t pick my own. It doesn’t matter though as I have other fruit to eat. Love your rhymes. Stay safe xxx 💜❤️

I can't choose my own anymore, I'm thinking back to those happy days when I would stand for ages looking at them, weighing up the different options. Remember I had years of bananaless years to make up for after WW2. I find with online shopping those bags of five usually turn out quite nice. 🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌😘

I ws 6 when bananas were firstbin thecshops after the war. We werecliving in Shroeberyness and passed a greengrocers on my way home from school. The young girl gave me my first ever banana and I was immediately in💘 love with her. I was heartbroken 💔when she married an American pilot. 😥

One of those 'oversexed, overpaid and over here', eh? 🤣 A couple of my wife's sisters did the same and I now have more American in-laws than British and a lovely lot they are too. 😁

Since online shopping recently, we found that we could buy 3 single bananas or 3 BAGS of 5 bananas!

We had the single bananas for the first few weeks but then our neighbours wanted some as well (one only wanted 2 bananas) so we started to order 2 single bananas and 2 bags. The Fair Trade bananas in the bags have proved to be so much nicer that we will stick with them in future. The others were often black when we opened them up, regardless of whether they were newly delivered or a few days old. Some looked really good on the outside, so can't blame the people who were picking them. Anyway, we now all have more bananas than we really want, but at least they are edible.

I still love your odes, Don. Keep 'em coming!! xx Moy

I love that 'still', Moy, it show s what grit, determination and wonderful staying power we have available on the group. ❤😘xx

So long as we don't let the seriousness get to us ,Chrys, we will be alright. It might seem a bit flippant at times, but it acts to relieve the pressure. 😊xx

I buy one banana each week i really am a big spender

I look at it religiously each day thinking when it's tender

I might have it with some milk and create a delicious shake

Or pop it in the oven and give it a good bake

But as the days pass and it slowly turns to black

I end up putting it with other stuff in the refuse sack. :( x

😂😂🤣🤣🤣 Off to a good start this morning then, Skis. Great poem there. x

So that explains my constipation. I thought that bananas were good for you. I am trying a strong laxative after this, skischool and no more bananas for me, as the song goes.

I shall stand well back! 😮

I'm not a big fan of bananas but have found that smothering one in an entire jar of chocolate spread makes them more acceptable 👍🍌

Aged 3, I was introduced to my very first banana. I dressed up with granddad's trilby upside down on my head and his best waistcoat on with a scarf round my waist and dubbed myself 'the banana lady' . BOOM BOOM. :-O

My favourite toasted sandwich, grilled banana with crispy streaky bacon, mmmm

in reply toSORRELHIPPO

That sounds good, I think I’ll try that. I used to be able to buy banana fritters from Papa’s Fritters which were good with maple syrup. 🍌
