Welcome to this forum.

It is very friendly and supportive.

Do you have any more diagnosis details? Like what kind of ILD?

We cannot interpret your test results and unfortunately it has happened at the wrong time for you. I’m afraid you will have to wait until things are easier for the respiratory departments in hospitals.

What are your symptoms?

All the best

Thank You Kate,

The consultant has said “ early idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis”.

CT scan verifies this with ground glass opacities evident.

Coughing for 3 years but otherwise ok until caught pneumonia at Xmas which prompted scans etc.

Doc detected crackles in both lungs.

B4 Xmas walking dogs 3 or 4 miles without too much effort but now an effort going upstairs.

They are considering some form of clinical trials at Brompton.

HI,Gas transfers or DCLO normaly are on the low side for patients with IPF as are they with people with Emphysema which is more inclined towards the severe stage.

However they are just part of the overall picture and other areas of your lung picture so to speak can compensate to a certain degree,

Unfortunately as Katinka46 has indicated we have neither the expertise or knowledge of your individual condition to diagnose your figures and you may have to wait until your next avaiable appt with your consultant for them to explain their significance.

Best wishes until such time.

Hi

I have Pulmonary fibrosis and my gas transfer is at 21%. At the moment there isn’t much you can do until your appointment comes through. I believe they are still running appointments via phone but only for essential cases. Unfortunately all respiratory departments will be overwhelmed at the moment.

It may be useful to get an oximeter from Amazon or eBay so you can keep an eye on your SATs and get a better idea of what your oxygen levels are doing throughout the day. If you have been formally diagnosed with IPF you should be shielding - there is a government website to register this if you haven’t already. You are in the extremely vulnerable group. Take care.

I have IPF as well and have no idea what gas transfers are! It was November when I last saw my consultant,my next appointment should be June. I was diagnosed three years ago and to be honest nothing much has changed, try not to worry. X
