This is a question for the upper echelons of the BLF. As one of the “shielded “ ones, I’ve been isolating, in a small, one bedroom flat, for almost 4 weeks.. To outlive this pandemic, I am prepared to isolate for as long as it takes. I want to live long enough to hug my Family once again.
The only way covid can get into my flat is on mail or Groceries.. I have seen members ideas on how to deal with it, but I don’t like bleach.
Could we have some one take up our need for an effective spray to deal with this problem!! Who can lobby the Government on our behalf?? Can YOU??

I leave my mail where it falls on the mat for a few days, after all, nothing can be urgent at the mo.
All the food that comes in gets thoroughly wiped with a microfibre cloth squeezed out in hot soapy water. A microfibre cloth is said to wipe away viruses & bacteria as well all other microscopic bits.
I've got to go out and brave the pharmacy queue & shop in a mo to drop my prescription. I'll ask if it's possible for them to drop off to me just 3 minutes away.
I've also got a 'quarantine' bowl for cardboard packs, toothpaste, cupasoup, bags of nuts, I leave them for a few days like the mail..stay safe dear knitter xxx
The virus cannot affect letters and parcels but obviously we cannot know if the postman is carrying it so makes sense to spray it and leave for a couple of days.
Can I just point out that we should not be exposing ourselves to spray. It goes into the air and we breathe into our lungs. If a product comes as a spray it should be sprayed directly onto a cloth.
I was in a cafe once when the waitress came up and sprayed neat Mr. Muscle on our table, it nearly choked me.
Before I bring anything into the house, I lay kitchen roll on my work surface. I bring shopping, mail etc in wearing gloves. I open mail and throw the envelopes away immediately. My shopping, anything that can be wiped down is. I transfer meat, fruit etc into my own bags /containers etc. and dispose of all packing. After all that, the kitchen roll goes in the bin ,the work surface is wiped down and my hands are surgically scrubbed!!😀 Phew!
