Oxygen and Virus

I am in the terminal stages of IPF and also have a problem that circulation to my feet has stopped. Which means that I need visits from Carers mornings and evenings. I am on oxygen 24/7 at 2 litres/minute. Does the use of oxygen make me less susceptible to any nasties which may be in the air around me?

I don't believe its in the air Huwie, the droplets from coughs sneezes land on surfaces etc. skin to skin contact also.

I would think you must still take precautions as we all must with or without oxygen.

The people who are attending you should be wearing, protective aprons, gloves and masks. If they are not insist they do or chat with your GP about the requirements to protect you for those who are attending you.

BLF helpline may also advise on this further.

Hi Huwie

I am in the same boat, and have been told that I have months to live rather than years, not to worried about that, but I was going to ask the same question, as apparently the manufacturer of concentrator devices has upped it's production?

Makes me wonder if being on oxygen 24/7 helps to combat the virus, my friend who does not have any underlying health issues has bought her self one?

I hope we get some answers from some health professionals.
