Bunker bonkers and tea bags.

The authorities are encouraging us to bunker up in wartime mode against the pandemic. This may be sensible just now but where is it taking us, this moral panic and hysteria? Maybe the rapid stripping of supermarket raids and depletion warfare are a product of this mental entrenchment. The consumption of tea is a symbol of this current wave of self-isolation and bunker protectionism, where the government , either intentionally or not, is pitting family against family, household against neighbours, fragmenting society, which Thatcher once claimed does not exist, in a sort of social war which brought down Roman civilisation. The decline and fall...? Tea bags. Watch this space.

Not to worry. There are contingency plans for the Ringtons tea man to be accompanied by armed guards.

Very reassuring to read of that Troilus. I also am intrigued by your choice of call name. Is there a Cressida in your life?

That may well be a right prediction Jaybird, the centre cannot hold.
