My wife and i are approaching 80 and having had pneumonia last year are in the high risk category for C virus, I am wondering whether to invest in a home use ventilator. I have heard that the Nippy is a suitable model but the Nippy 4 is over £4k. However a Nippy 3 now supersede by the Nippy 4 but perfectly functional is available to us.
Is the Nippy 3 effective and a suitable machine? Should we also acquire an Oxygen machine? Any informed advice greatly appreciated. The company BREAS won't give clinical advice.

If you haven’t already discussed this with your GP or consultant it would perhaps be advisable to do so. The pressure levels set in a Bipap are usually decided by an NIV consultant and respiratory technician. I have a Nippy as I retain co2. It works well, is easy to use and quiet.
When I was looking for a back up machine with inbuilt humidifier I had to send the company my prescription from Harefield . There are a variety of machines out there, brands like Resmed aircurve, Respironics etc have good reputation. But it depends on individual needs, pressure levels, if it needs to have oxygen capability, if you want a humidifier etc.
