Bronchiectasis and pulmonary nodule(s)

Hello,

My mum is waiting on the results of a second CT scan to investigate some lung nodules that were spotted on an earlier CT (from August of last year) - the largest of which was 7mm at that point.

As is somewhat inevitable with situations like this I am worrying about the worst. However at one point her doctor mentioned that he suspected she might have bronchiectasis and so I wanted to see how many others on this site had this diagnosis while also having nodules because of it. I'm curious to see if there is a connection between the two - however anecdotal.

Thanks

Lung nodules are quite common and can be caused by infections, allergens, fungus, auto immune illnesses, etc. Less than 30 mm is usually not cancer but they like to make sure there's no growth in case it is cancer and then they can treat it earlier. Most of the time it is not due to cancer when they are that small. Bronchiectasis can cause you to be more likely to get infections which can lead to nodules. I have the same dx as Alice, nodules being watched but they think mine were caused by an infection in the past. Also , my doctor says she sees a high rate of nodules in our area due to a fungus that's present in the air due to where we live ( lots of rivers in our area with high mold). Best wishes!
