Why Ent I Coughing

Hello everyone.I have copd and since being diagnosed a year and half ago I been trying to stop smoking.A doctor told me I have emphysema but no ct scan that just her opinion.I been trying to stop smoking Iv used everything and no success till now.I am 3 weeks smoke free I am using champix.Thing is thats worrying me I not coughing I heard body starts to heal itself and a cough is good sign and im not coughing at all 😔 Anyone else not cough with copd and when quitting smoking.

Maybe it was the ciggies that made you cough. You don't necessarily cough all the time with COPD unless you have an infection. Some people do, of course, but we are all different. Glad you have kicked the weed, remember feeling a certain freedom myself when i did the same (with lozenges). Keep up the good work. You don't need a CT scan to diagnose COPD - they can hear noises in your lungs and also the spirometry test will diagnose it.

Thanks for reply, did you cough when giving up smoking?? I did cough sometimes in the mornings just before they found out I have copd.Iv had one lung function test and now stopped were I live cus of funding so I cant keep a eye on my lungs 😔 nurse at gp surgery told me they go by your symptoms as a lung function test are unreliable!

I didnt cough when diagnosed with copd back in 2008 was check out no problems. Then 2 weeks got a cold and developed a cough no other symptoms cold gone. Feel really just annoying phlegm cough clearing slowly. Just so annoyed after all these years to get a cough.

Hi I cough a lot when I smoke but when I stopped it virtually went. We areall different so it's nothing to worry about. x
