Hi I was on oxygen like you for 16 hours and on walking. It got to a point where I was back in hospital with carbon dioxide through too much oxygen . They have taken me off oxygen only have 2 litres as and when I need it. 4 litre on walking doing housework like changing bed and hoovering. Hope it goes well.
It's good to share these things, Looseloafers. It was a blow to me too to learn a few months ago that I need oxygen - 1 litre when out and about. I struggled at first to come to terms with it but it's gradually getting easier the more I do it. As you say, think of it as part of your medication and that's life. Easier said than done I know and easy to get disheartened. Put another way- would you be able to get out of the house without it? The answer is no, so what's best to do? x
Thanks for the reply I’m coming to terms with the whole thing (I think😂) need to practice outside but will get there! Cheers Sue x
Sue, you will. I don't know what sort of oxygen you use when 'ambulatory' (the word makes me laugh!) but I have 2 litre cylinders and also 2 x paediactric ones. I can't carry a 2 litre tank on my shoulder so use a shopping trolley to put it in and wheel about. I only weigh 44 kilos so have been 'allowed' to have 2 of the smaller paediactric (for kids) which, although they contain less, it means I have both hands free. Really depends on what I'm doing and where I'm going. Stick with it - you'll be fine. Blessings Christina x
