It's awful when this happens to you, and also unfair. You shouldn't be punished for having an illness. I would definitely go to your union rep. Good luck with it all, please let us know how you get on. Have a lovely weekend and take care of yourself π Bernadette xx
Hi
Unfortunately I've just went through similar I was sent to the company hr department where they said I'd be ok doing by job if the manager made some adjustments and get different type of moving and handling equipment
But they kept me on sick leave then asked my hr and hpbfor statement to explain what was wrong with me told them I yoluse as soon as I was diagnosed
To cut LONG STORIES SHORT
THEY PAID ME OFF UNDER THE INCAPACITY TO DO MY JOB with the safety of my service users and staff members
So I'm now on universal credit
And pip
But it's a blooming shock going from earning a wage working upto 300 hours a month to shockingly low benefits
And a 2 year wait on the occupational therapy program just for the initial assessment as they do bad
But I really hope this turns out well for you in the future xx
Hi Bernadette, just letting you know I have an appeal date, for next week and my union rep is coming with me, so hopefully I will get the warning overturned
I agree with Bernadette, Go to your Union Rep This should not be Allowed. Some stupid Employers out there, Good luck Hun, Let us know how you get on. xxx
This must be very worrying for you, which won't help your condition. You've had good advice about contacting your Union rep. You could also call the BLF Helpline (03000 030 555) on Monday. I'm sure someone there would also be able to advise you.
Good luck, Annie
Wishing you all the best. Good luck! π
How awful and stressful for you Bolton-Lass . I agree with everyone, go to your union! They cannot discriminate against you for being ill. xx π
Hi You must contact your union as soon as possible. If they try to bully you and / or force you out , your rep can protect you. If they do want rid of you , you can then get the union to go after them for unfair dismissal. Good luck π. Xx Lynn an ex-union rep.
There was a time I was having alot of flare-ups and that put me on daliresp. I was on it for two years and didn't have one flare up I was on anxiety meds to my doctor took me off of that I took myself off the daliresp as I was losing too much weight. So far so good. On my 4th year now without hospitalization. Takes a little while for your body to adjust. You can ask.
Also get a letter from your Doctor saying you have COPD and suffer from flare ups. And yes see your union about the warning.
I agree with all the previous comments re your problems with your employer, but also, perhaps you could do with some more medical support to avoid the flareups? I was having flareups every month but with a change of inhalers and meds, plus advice on managing the condition, I have had very few flare ups since. I have COPD, asthma and bronchiectasis. Also, there is a very helpful BLF page on managing flare ups which you may find useful. I really hope you get this horrible situation sorted out with your employers. Good luck. xx Moy
That's dreadful!
Employers have to be very careful if planning to dismiss a person due to health problems.
Very specific course of action to be followed.
Definitely use Union Rep. and get that rep to read up on procedure.
You could do without further stress if you're having flare ups.
But question why you getting flare ups.... does something need altering on your treatment for flare ups?
Do you have a specialist you see?
Perhaps make appointment to see as it could be that something is not fully clearing up and therefore recurring....
It's worth a try...
Hope you get the help you deserve.
Let us know what happens please.
