To take rescue antibiotics or not

Hi all,

Hope you are all doing ok . I wondered if anyone one would be able to offer some advice ?

I have mild Bronchiectasis. My 3 year old have a nasty head cold which my son has now caught . I’m up to date with my vaccines but I’m feeling like I could be catching this cold .

I have post nasal drip and awaiting referral to ENT- I have a nasal spray currently. I use my flutter device and up until this am the phlegm was white - there was a small amount of yellow this am . I’m not sure if it’s possible it’s the drip from my nose or changes in lung mucus .

I also have pain in my right side on and off but doesn’t when when breathing in , I’m not sure if it’s a muscle strain due to lifting weights , it doesn’t feel like an impending infection but I really don’t want to take the chance .

I have a rescue pack of antibiotics and I’m wondering if I should take them as a precaution or leave it a day or so . Last head cold I had did develop into a chest infection .

Any advice is very much appreciated. Take care .

Debs x

If you are worried please seek medical advice, either ring your GP or phone the NHS helpline. At least they can advise what best to do. Let's us know how you get on please. Have a lovely day and take care of yourself 😊 Bernadette xx

If you feel things are developing then take them. Pete always has a chest infection after a cold. It never fails. I think he’s going down with a bad chest now and I’m already looking his ciprofloxacin. Xxxx
