No one lives for ever
Some time the end will come
When I can say 'Well I've done well'
But now my job is done.
I haven't yet quite finished
No one can tell me when
But I shall know just when and where
I want to say Amen.
Although this may upset you
And you'd rather have me stay
That will not last for ever
Tomorrows another day
I hope I'll leave good memories
That will last you all your life
But please don't make me face
A period of final strife.

I see Kirk Douglas has just died, aged 103. Wonder what his last years were like? I will be 86 soon and things are getting harder all the time. My dad was luckier than my mum, he died first in his own bed, at the end, mum had a couple of years in a nursing home, becoming more and more dependent and confused, no fun in that. Its not the number of years we achieve, its the quality of those years, but we really don't get to choose. Love iris x
There is a lot we can do to maintain quantity Iris, and to stop worrying about the future and keep doing things are two. Has Sally been given a fresh supply of mushrooms yet? 😀xx
My kind of poem Don, obviously we won't want the inevitable to happen. We do want you to stay forever, but whatever and whenever, you will always be her in our hearts forever. 
I reckon you and Iris lyd need to hang around a while
I need some garden pics and some rhymes to make me smile
Midge and Tony likewise will insist that you both stay
Cos when they awaken in the morning you really make their day
So hang on in there folks and think not of when you are going
As we all know it makes sense to just depart without ever knowing.
No-one lives forever Don
As of course we know
But when will we get our calling?
“Hey you! It’s time to go!”
That day will surely come around
For each and everyone
Until then I’ll be found
Trying to have some fun.

Of course, what I’m saying is I don’t want to die in a hospital or hospice, good though they may well be. In fact I don’t want to die at all, but I understand that isn’t an option. 😉😘xx

I took the camper for a run around just to keep things working. I invited Midge but she just gave me what I’d describe as a withering look. 🙄
