My New Song.

When I get older lost all my hair

Just one year from now

Will you still be sending me a Valentine

Birthday greetings bottle of wine

If coughing and wheezing I might be

Would you still be mine

Will you still need me, will you still feed me

When I'm eighty- nine

It began to sound a bit familiar here so I didn't write anymore.

My dad's 89 Don, my younger sister keeps her eye on him but he lives alone. Brilliant parody, were you a beatle once? :-)

in reply to

Is your dad keeping well, that’s a fair old age? No I was never a beatle, I found them rather irritating to be honest, mop-heads. 😉

in reply to

He's not too bad Don, apart from needing a catheter. He likes to potter in the garden and he goes to the social club every Friday afternoon to play dominoes with his mates. :-)

in reply to

Great, it doesn't get much better than that at 89. 👍👴

in reply to

Well we made him give up the car after our mum passed away (November 2010) so he's been on his own a long time. So after nagging him to get some pals, he gave in and went to the community centre which is a 2 minute walk away. He can at least walk, which is more than I can.

in reply to

My wife died 2010 also, I took a driving test 2015 to prove to myself I was still okay. I think I'll take another when the weather gets better. We need some one to nag us to get out and about, I have Midge and the folk here. 😉 I'm sorry to hear you are disabled. 😘

Good afternoon Mr.D and I was not particularly a Beatles fan either, but I did recognise the words. I'm giving myself a 🌟 !I know it should be yours but hey-ho the sun is shining, da de da da da!🎶🎵🎤(i've probably embarrassed myself by getting my tunes muddled up..Still,you've kept me occupied for 15mins or so!!😜). 💕

in reply to SquirrelsHolt

I didn't quite catch that tune SH, but I'm sure you were right. The Beatles certainly stirred things up in Liverpool, there were a number of young bands around at that time. I worked in Liverpool nearly all my working life, but the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra was my favourite band.

Oh yes Mr.D. i seem to remember a while back you posted a link for anyone interested in full orchestral music, so you have been a REAL musical buff since you were in your 20's or late teens? I used to have a very good ear for music but since my sinus problems nothing quite sounds as good as I'd expected. Moral of my wafflings .... look after your ears and don't use cotton buds !!!!🙉👂🐿💕

in reply to SquirrelsHolt

I had a collection of music on 78s and they changed to LPs which they the changed to CDs which they changed to digital files. I was like a dog chasing it’s tail.

SquirrelsHolt profile image
SquirrelsHolt in reply to

Chasing your tail you may well have been Mr. D, but i think it was Midge's tail and you couldn't catch that. She's far too fast I'd imagine and it is only herself going around and around in circles, who can catch her tail !!! .....🌀🌀🌀🐿💕

It's just smashing Don. I wish you could have heard me just now, singing it with abandon. Now I'm coughing unfortunately. Cheers for now, and yes, you deserve a valentine card.

I've lost some of my hair too Don. But here's some 🍫 and 🍷. 😂😂😂

in reply to Caspiana

To be honest Cas I've never had much hair, a bit like our royal family in that respect. 🙄 I have a photo of myself taken when I must have been just a couple of months old, I look overweight and bald, not a hair in sight. Friends (?) say I haven't changed a bit. Will yours grow back in time?

Caspiana in reply to

Hello Don. 😁

People say it does. But I've always had fine hair , so I don't know. However it doesn't bother me too much, as I hear wigs can be quite beautiful these days. I think there could be worse things to suffer from. When I was a baby I , had more hair than face. They had to move my hair out of the way to see my face 👀. 👋

Love it Don I will always send you a Valentine, although our tastes are different loved the Beatles and Rolling Stones. However saying that my ex brother-in-law played the cello in the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and often went to see him when they were in London and really enjoyed it. Carole xx

Thank you Carole. I think I said I found the lads themselves irritating mop-heads, their music I mostly like. Just as I can't stand some of the modern orchestral music. I played the theatre organ until my hands were crippled with arthritis.

Morning Mr.D and look at so many members on here you've got singing along! (Another talent ?) 🐿💕🎶

Well I know the purpose of the forum is to address serious health problems and we certainly do that, (well not me because there are many on here better able to do that,) but I feel it helps to have these light-hearted moments as well to show that, diseased we might be, but we can still have a laugh now and then. 🤡🐶xx
