Quite a interesting post FILED with shock and scandalous findings.
Clearly not one to let lies get in way of truth I can’t help feeling medical profession as stuck pin on tail of donky WHEN comes to lung disease cancer and research.
It’s been long belief of mine THAT because I never started smoking till mid 20’s that’s how why I developed lung disease.
Clearly my theory thoughts on lung disease and smoking and why those who don’t smoke 🚭 fair worse than those that do.
smoking i belive is like chemotherapy and causes inflammation inflammatory response.
That is other wise turned of OR limited.
Cancer I believe needs healthy cells AND in someone who DOES not smokes cancer as free rain ☔️ especially if you have genetic condition that as turned off bodies own inflammatory response or it’s been hijacked.
Clearly am talking about lungs and speculating expressing my view idea.
Clearly everyone is in titled to there view AND that’s mine.
If don’t like it let’s see yours BUT do keep to topic article n picture
Interesting thoughts and opinions JAS. Cigarettes are full of chemicals and to stop smoking seems to be so difficult for many, I know Pete struggled, but giving up has to be better? I know some don’t feel better upon giving up and indeed some feel worse but there it is.
I just wish you good treatment and a positive outcome for ongoing appointments. You’ve fought long and hard to get answers, this has to be your time.
Hi sassy dose make you think ESPECIALLY when doctors seem to blame smoking for all SEEMs to me the run with story and stuck tail on donky RATHER than do more research.
Even when stop smoking It’s O be that.
Could say it’s my take on un locking DaVinci's Code Genius.
It’s a lottery I think. When I was young it was cool to smoke, all my friends did it and I’m lucky to still have those friends so I know that out of all of us I (who smoked the least) am the only one with “smoking related” disease. I’m not convinced that smoking can be the main cause in my case or in many others. An unknowable genetic predisposition exacerbated by smoking is my theory. Obviously DON’T SMOKE is the answer because you may be unlucky, like most of us here. Would I have listened as a teenager? Doubtful.
This is a misunderstanding of the work by Prof. Sir Richard Doll and Dr. Julian Peto. They showed a STATISTICAL link between smoking and lung cancer, and went on to show a similar link with asbestos. They DIDN'T show that, if you smoke, you will get lung cancer, only that the odds increase; consequently, it is sensible for doctors to suggest stopping smoking because it decreases those odds. That doesn't mean to say that you cannot get lung cancer (or COPD, for that matter) by another route.
There is a similar argument to be made with global warming. The argument against MANMADE global warming is that there is no proven direct link. However, if you KNOW that the climate IS warming, and that human activity results in more greenhouse gases, then it doesn't matter whether the cause is human activity or not; it simply implies a statistical link and that reduction in that human activity would ultimately reduce global warming.
Also the research citations, that the article is based on, are very dated with one (# 24) going back to 1975 even, the article itself is also dated as 2009. The stated % rate of smokers developing COPD is also wrong with it actually being 20% to 24% and if also vaping along with smoking as well, then that risk increases to 33%.
