Break an leg or some thing worse

And it's there for all to see

Hobble around as best you can

And you'll get sympathy

Doors will be held open

A hand there to assist

It's clear that you need helping

The signs just cant be missed

But people with an illness

That doesn't like that show

Are left to struggle on their own

Suffering as they go

So consider this each time

That you judge someone too slow

They might be doing the best they can

As they huff and puff and blow.

So true Don. I was leaning on the bench outside our village shop getting my breath back after struggling to walk up there when a guy about the same age as me said ' you need to get fit' as he passed me. Couldn't waste the breath to put him right.

in reply to

He was one lucky guy to get away with that! 😂

in reply to

He lives in the village. He's on borrowed time!

That is one of my pet hates, judged by someone who doesn’t know you! I hope you get your revenge x

in reply to

I'm feeling sorry for him already. 😏

Exactly. So ignorant. Got that years ago (when i was fitter too).Everyone thinks that . Do try using a stick . I have got arthritic hip and just started using stick and --- it is magic---doors open, people stand aside, offer to carry things. Chairs fetched It is very difficult to accept gracefully actually.

Go for hip assessment Thurs .just stage one of long process

Sadly true Don, I just put it down to total ignorance. Nobody knows what’s around the corner.

Have a good day and take your time. 😘👍🥰💋

It is astounding how some people can be so judgmental and insensitive and feel they have the right to make comments about someone they know nothing about.

So very true! I have had people yell at me for parking in handicapped! Yes...I am handicapped in many areas..but none to be seen! But...if they can't tell by my breathing...its their ignorance! Well done Mr Don! Janet127

A really well thought out poem Don and one that works both ways. Quite thought provoking.

😤😷🤧👵Good afternoon Mr.D and you've very rhymingly (probably not a word) described me. Give me a magic broomstick and I could fly along.....still getting the odd look......but I'd get to the shop quicker than they!! Enjoyed your rhyme. Hope you and 🐶 are keeping warm and dry?💞

We are getting as close to hibernating as we can.

Reminded me of two times I have wanted to murder people.

Going round Tescos, on 2 elbow crutches, leg in plaster below knee (fractured ankle), a lady with two kids shot past me, so close that she knocked one of my crutches out of my hand, did not even stop to help pick me up.

At a friend's funeral, very poor mobility, on a walking stick. Came to a door (all glass) a lady the other side watched me painstakingly balance, take my stick off the floor, move it to my other hand (so stick in the air), put my hand on the door to pull it towards me. She then grabbed the door handle on her side and yanked the door towards her. Wondered when I was annoyed, when I barely managed to stay upright.

People are odd.

My husband, who has a stoma, came out of the disabled loo the other day and was told sharply by a woman “that is a disabled toilet”. Peter said, equally sharply, “not all disabilities are visible”. She went a bit pink but did not apologise! What a world! I know some people abuse facilities for disabled people but ......
