Eddie Wadsworth is not like other charity collectors. The 85-year-old has converted his mobility scooter into a tank - complete with a gun turret and cardboard rockets.

I get the sentiment and message about this eccentric individual and his good deeds for charity. I have to say that I would be embarrassed if I encountered him and his weaponized scooter in full flight, especially with all the toy militarism. At least he can't creep up on you and give you a fright as some of these folk do with their stealth approach to the highway code. He might need the cannon when I go to hit him with my stick...only jesting.

Well! I'll go to the back of our shed! That is absolutely bl**dy brilliant! 🤣

Yes come on Don, you’re slacking 😋

What a great idea, it’ll certainly get some attention.

I often wish I had a cannon mounted on the front of my campervan, I’d make good use of that! 😉

My brother’s had a variety of ex military vehicles over the years, including a Zil. Most people tended to give him plenty of space on the roads!

What a fantastic idea! I bet he will collect a great deal of money with his tank for the good cause it represents. It not only attracts attention but it is highlighting the fact as to why we should be remembering and wearing our poppies. I am so glad the B B C covered this and well done to this gentleman! A lot of worthy people will benefit from his actions in the future.

Of course, for me, Anzac Day (23rd April) is just as important to commemorate. We have all our own dates of remembrance.

Anzac day is on the 25th November isn't it? Yes, thank you for mentioning it 2greys, In the UK we remember the ones who didnt come back on Rememberance Day, but Australians give thanks to the ones who took part in the 2nd world war and call it Anzac Day. Do you know why it's called that? I have always had a special interest in the 2nd world war though I was born in 1944 and don't have any recollection of it.

In NZ it is on the 25th April and is a public holiday. It commemorates the landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) at Gallipoli, Turkey, during World War I in 1915. You can learn all about it from the Government site:
