Running hot at work

Just wondering if anyone struggles with sweating?

I’ve always been a bit of a sweater, but at work people are starting to make comments about me always wanting the air conditioning on. I just wondered if it could be connected to my lung problems as it does seem really extreme. I realise it might be a separate issue, but it does coincide with when all my breathing issues started. I will mention it to my consultant when I see him in December.

Today I’ve been looking at trying to find some sort of amazing invention (underwear like thermals but that do the opposite)...cuz everyone’s walking round with their coats on and I’m sweating buckets. I’m feeling embarrassed about it!!

Hi I suffer from sweating too, it does make you feel uncomfortable. You have a goodnight and take care of yourself 😊 Bernadette xx

Hello CozmoCreepers . 🙋

I think some people are just more predisposed to sweating which is perhaps better than no sweating at all. A little table fan may help? xx

Are you taking any medications? Some of them cause sweating. Maybe you could look to see if there's advice for people traveling to hot countries, and try implementing some of that (if it's not just advice to stay in the shade which wouldn't be very relevant!) I'm the opposite to you and am always freezing. People make comments too and I sometimes feel embarrassed. People make comments about anything that's different and especially when it's something they don't understand. At least it's easier for me to try to get warm, so I feel for you because there's not much one can easily do to cool down. I read that putting clothes in the freezer or fridge Can help. Is there a fridge where you work, and would you have the opportunity to take a break and get changed? If you take a spare top or 2 and always have one in the fridge you can change into, maybe that would help cool you down if only for a while. Best wishes to you.

My husband used to sweat a lot before he married me. He was about 2 stones heavier through caring for his parents through their last illnesses with little support. Once on a healthier more fibre filled diet, he lost the weight naturally, now maintains a healthy weight easily, and his general health has improved so much his doctor has stopped some of his blood pressure tablets.

Have you an underlying infection?

Has your thyroid function been tested.....I had problems with overheating when my levels changed .

I invested in cotton tops and ditched most of the man made fibre ones , and I have a small hand held battery fan.

Sounds so familiar CozmoCreepers, think you need to get your homones checked. I have had this since I was 40 and now 67. The only relief I had was when on hrt and had to come of this when the breast cancer scare came. Good luck x

Yes, all the time, night, day. Ill or well. Summer or winter constantly being pushed away in bed and do not feel the cold like others do. But only since developing breathing problems.

My daughter bought cooling towels this summer and they really work. You can get them from Amazon but I bought one at a garden centre. You wet them, wring them out and shake them and they stay cold for ages. If they start to warm up you just shake them again, and you can easily refresh them with a bit more water. More effective than cold flannels etc. Might be worth a try - you'd wear it like a scarf. xx Moy
