A new Trojan horse approach could lead to treatments for some antibiotic-resistant bacteria. A deadly, antibiotic-resistant bacterium can be sterilized by hijacking its haem-acquisition system, which is essential for its survival. The new strategy, developed by Nagoya University researchers and colleagues in Japan, was published in the journal ACS Chemical Biology.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a dangerous bacterium that causes infections in hospital settings and in people with weakened immune systems. It can cause blood infections and pneumonia, while severe infections can be deadly. Highly resistant to antibiotic treatment, P. aeruginosa is one of the most critical pathogens urgently requiring alternative treatment strategies, according to the World Health Organization.
Hi, Thanks for sharing this important information with us. I have bronchiectasis and my lungs have those pseudos in them. When you read articles like this it not only lifts your spirits but gives sufferers hope for the development of future antibiotics.
Well that is sort of correct. I use a search engine called DuckDuckGo it actually utilises a load of other search engines and then indexes their results into the most relevant results and lists them by date, the most recent at the top it is also privacy conscious and does not track your searches to display annoying adverts . I enter a keyword and make a shortcut for it in a folder.
That folder has over 300 such shortcuts and growing all the time. It is then a simple matter of clicking on one and looking for new results. I have four real advantages: a very fast 16 core computer : a very fast internet connection of nearly 400mb/s: I can read very quickly, an average book takes me just 2 hours to read: I also, still, have a good memory.
It is the first thing that I do when I get home from work, after getting cleaned up and first thing in the morning whilst taking my medicines regime. All in all I might spend an hour each session. My real problem is that I might see an article that is interesting to me personally but perhaps not relevant to the members, I get side tracked too easily. I also try to limit the amount of posts per day to two or three, else I might drown the forum with loads of posts, so some days I have to store the articles for other days when there are no new articles.
My own version of distraction therapy, the mind overtakes all the discomforts of being ill for a while each day, a labour of love too.
thanks for info . I have copied this for my stepson. you do work very hard at this . the main thing is a retentive memory Mine takes average 10 mins to recall info . the comp in my head takes that long but it then is usually too late.. I am amazed at what can done when you know how. it is always useful to know these things that affect us all. I am not computer minded so have to think about it all. ,to take it in And I have so many problems when I experiment ! More of my life was spent without a computer than with it . the children of today have one big advantage learning while their brains are at their quickest.
