A great number of guidelines have been issued in recent years by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), as well as by other societies and organisations. Because of their impact on clinical practice, quality criteria for the development of guidelines have been established in order to make all decisions transparent to the user. The recommendations for formulating and issuing ESC Guidelines can be found on the ESC website.

Good posting 2greys.
Guidelines for vascular issues are at the heart (no pun intended) of clinical decision making, as with respiratory issues, such as bronchiectasis. I do see an overlap between the two having recently experienced strokes, as well as ongoing breathing problems. Quality statements are always a measure of clinical vigilance for GPs and consultants, as well as other health practitioners. One wonders how frequently most GPs and nurses especially can find the time to to keep abreast of new guidelines, given the pressures currently affecting the profession and through no fault of their own.
The European Respiratory Society for instance, is continually revising its quality statements as good or best practice advice. I foresee a time when medicine falls foul, if not already having done so, of the Little Britain machinations of the Wexit boot boys at Westminster. Sad times ahead.
