It sounds like you have caught a bad cold and it has turned or is turning into a flare up. Have you got emergency meds in case of COPD flare up?
Hi thank you for reply. I recently diagnosed with emphysema and they didn't gave me any thing just inhaler
Oh well if you have been diagnosed with emphysema and you feel so bad. Temperature? Then it does sound like an exacerbation or flare up. Ring out of hours Dr. My understanding is that every flare up reduces your lung capacity so it is important to keep the flare up under control. i think you need medical help especially with chest pain
No i dont have fever and just have a lot of mucus and i feel my chest like burning do you have copd? do you think i should take steroids and antibiotics
I do have COPD diagnosed severe. The best thing is to keep it under control as best you can. Do not ignore an exacerbation
Yes, you're right I hope you stay well
I do look after myself. Good diet and exercise and no cigs and a positive outlook. You will be fine, this is the best source for everyday support. COPD is different for everybody and everyday. That is why we are here. Lovely to talk to you and see all your queries sorted. Breathe easy jou jou.
Think I would get to the doctor Chrys, not normal for any condition x
I was diagnosed with late onset asthma and COPD after years of incessant winter colds, so there might be a link. If you get no joy with the doctor (they tend not to take colds very seriously, even if there's an underlying problem) you could try an antihistamine tablet or nasal spray - worked with me.
Thank you for your reply you are right i have to change the dr he didn't gave me anything i will try antihistamines like you did
Do you have copd and take antihistamine coz i read that is not good for copd patients
Joujou I do take them for hayfever, but I think you are right, they can mask the COPD
Actually, I take Beconase nasal spray rather than a tablet, so you may be right. Antihistamines tend to make me sleepy, though you can split the tablet to reduce the effect. Beta blockers are supposed to make asthma worse, but the low dose I take doesn't seem to have any effect.
I think a lot depends on the individual and you don't know until you try; I always take a low dose first and build up gradually to avoid any adverse reaction.
I did know that
