Hi everyone I'm new in diagnosis emphysema and just did a CT scan and told me the doctor I was in the early stages of the disease he did not ask me to do any other tests and I was lost and I did not know what to do. Is CT scan sufficient to determine the stages. also i have a shortness of breath always

I agree - When problems are found by GP he should refer to Pulmonary specialist- who will then do more tests to get to route of problem and then give treatment. GP or GP Nurses who diagnose you without a proper investigation are playing with your life, but if you smoke you are also playing with your life ( I am a smoker I know my risk). Your lungs are to keep you alive by giving you air not to store smoke daily with hundreds of chemicals to kill you. If I have told and shown that when I was at school I would never have taken a drag of someone cig when they offered it to me. Two people I know of died because they were misdiagnosed and not seen by specialist. Lung problems are serious whether you smoke or do not smoke- Do not let others play with your life if you feel something is wrong SAY SO if you are not happy with what your GP says to you SAY SO or WRITE and SAY SO. If you want to see a specialist and feel something wrong and there is evidence of that SAY SO. Treasure your lungs and treasure yourself. NHS may be strapped but does not mean they compromise your life or put it on line and that includes if you smoke don't compromise your life with that any further.

I made a SAR is with my GP I can see they missed years of me showing signs of COPD.

Now after 15yrs its too late and there saying I have COPD based on numerous infections etc past two years (4 this year) and then done a Spiro test now saying I have Asthma LOL Maybe I have all sorts but I don't need a GP surgery making quesses!!! - I bring up large amount of phlegm every morning- I am breathless on walking - I feel ill all the time- this is how far I have got with GP above - Said I COPD Colony bacteria case/ then a test Nurse says I have asthma
