This dahlia is called Mystery Day. Another Wilko’s masterpiece. I think I posted this one last year but couldn’t resist another showing. I spend a lot of time nurturing my plants and this is the reward. Hope it brightens up peoples lives a little this lovely evening. Best wishes. 👍🤓🌺

As a child I loved dahlias, but they were always full of earwigs! Is that still true ..... it put me off ever growing them? (That having said, I haven’t seen an earwig in years!) Pam

Greetings. I must admit it was always said that dahlias attracted earwigs. I must say although I don’t know that much about dahlias I haven’t seen any earwigs in or near them. If I were u I would have a go at growing them, so rewarding. Good luck and thank u for replying. 👍🤓🌺

Thank u CELAT06. I just love gardening. Not everything is successful. My daughter likes cooking and she asked me to grow some basil for her. I planted 10 seeds in a pot and got 4 plants. They took a long time to grow but I got there in the end. Best wishes. 👍🤓

So I have read. I do it and it does go bushy, otherwise long spindly plants. From a packet of seeds I only got 5 plants! I leave mine on very light window ledge on a dish watering from the bottom only. Good luck

Beautiful, reminded me of my younger days with my late husband. WE used to grow large pompom Dahlias , they were not pompoms but can't remember what they were called. We had two allotments in them days, now its shop bought pansies in a tub but I still love flowers and fresh home grown veg& fruit. Thank you for the picture.

Thank you for the reply. I used to grow potatoes in my garden but really it is to small. That is why I grow flowers. I have never tackled an allotment I should imagine u need a lot of time. We grow a few veg in a trug. Radish’s, spring onions and carrots but not on a large scale. I must admit they taste really nice when u pull them fresh and eat them. Good luck with ur pots. One of my neighbours grew a garden full of dahlias every year and they always looked wonderful. I have never been able to grow them, for some reason they always fail and they look magnificent x

I only by them fro Wilko’s. I start them off in a pot then when they have started to grow I plant them in the garden. Have another go next year. You could surprise yourself. Good luck. 👍🤓🌺
