Hello
Hello poetry lady, welcome.
What kind of tips were you looking for?
If holiday locations, what sort of distance you want to travel your location to other parts of UK or overseas, for overseas travel with oxygen there are a number of posts, just type 'travel with oxygen' in the search box top right to search this forum. If you need more info on just that maybe phone the BLF helpline on Monday.
Have a great Sunday
Thank you so much for your reply. I thought maybe to the seaside in the uk. I am so nervous in case I have no oxygen when I get there I have anxiety about it. I have an Inogen machine and realise my oxygen company would deliver it to my hotel. It is just the anxiety that holds me back I think.
Perhaps once you have decided which location you fancy, just phone your oxygen supplier to notify them of the hotel should you need to call on them. I assume you are driving so that will make things so much easier. For me I like to head to the coast, but my maximum these days is 3 hours driving with a rest or 2 and an overnight stay. If I go for the day my absolute max is 2 hours driving but preferably no more than 1 hour 30 mins but ideally only 1 hours drive. If you mention where in the country you are North, South, East West, NE, NW etc people may be able to offer suggestions for you and how many hours you want to spend travelling etc.
A course of kalms a month before you travel may help, but if you are on anxiety meds already perhaps chat with your doctor about increasing the dose, if not advice on additional medication which may help.
I think once you have done it you will want to give it a go once or twice every year
Thank you so much. I live in Gloucestershire. Your comments have been really helpful. I so want to go paddling! many thanks from Shirlz.
My husband is on long term oxygen therapy and has travelled to several places in Scotland, London and. Just back from Northern Ireland. This has required o2 deliveries from many suppliers and they have always been there when we arrive, usually are there a few days before. This last trip liquid oxygen was supplied as well as a concentrator and spare tanks. We were nervous at first too but it’s well worth it. Happy paddling 😊
Oh Bless you Thomac. I so want to get away somewhere to paddle in the sea. Your info has given me a lot of confidence. Many thanks. did you ever go self catering or just hotels?
Both and both have been fine, you need to check the venue are happy to receive 02 but no one has ever had an issue and hotels are very used to it. We need to give our supplier, Dolby vivisol, two weeks notice for holiday O2 but they have organised it at short notice to allow Chris to join me on a work trip.
I am on ambulatory oxygen but the principle is the same. We have just spent two weeks on the Isle of Wight with no problems.
1. Decide where you want to go and check the facilities for your requirements. We usually book a cottage on one floor. If you have problems with walking check where the car can be parked.
2 Call your oxygen supplier and ask for them to arrange oxygen for your needs. Ask about a portable concentrator as Stone suggests.
3 Enjoy your holiday!
We live in the Forest of Dean and drove to Lymington for the ferry. 2.5 hours. Good luck xx
Thank you so much
We will be setting off tomorrow for a 3 night break at the coast. Checked with the hotel that they will accept my oxygen equipment and that has been booked via my provider Air Liquide. They also allow mobility scooters to be charged over night indoors. I give a weeks notice to Air Liquide and equipment will be set up when I get there. I also choose a resort that’s not too hilly. Hope you get a break soon. Will do you good
