Oh no! Another one.....

I don't just draw greyhounds but I do have a very soft spot for them. I follow a group on FB called Galgos del Sol. The lady who founded it is English and lives out in Spain with her family. Not every rescue has a happy ending, but most do and there is nothing she won't do to save the dogs and get them rehomed. A galgo is a spanish greyhound. They are used for hunting in Spain.

The lady in Spain is called Tina Wales Solera. Galgos del Sol is a public group so you would be able to have a look if it took your fancy. They have loads of puppies at the moment because the galgueros throw the slower dogs out onto the streets after the hunting season finishes. Tina is getting very well known now because as well as capturing the strays and finding them new homes, she has an education programme going. Her centre has been funded by her supporters doing auctions etc. At the moment she has over 100 dogs. They all live in purpose built kennels also funded by auctions etc. I gave Tina one of my drawings for an auction. I'm happy to say that it raised 150 euros. More later!! xxx

I am in awe of her. She is always putting up videos for people to watch the rescues and see how the dogs are progressing. Oh if I was fit and healthy I would join her volunteer scheme. x

Not a lot really. Following surgery on both my hands one hand went wrong and it took me 15 years to be able to control a pencil properly. I can no longer do watercolours or portraits as I can't work quickly enough. I stick mainly with what I am comfortable with.

That’s beautiful, so lifelike it makes you want to stroke it. Your friend is doing a wonderful job. People who dispose of dogs like unwanted goods, and puppy farmers are the lowest.

I think dogs ( and other animals ) are far more intelligent than us. For one thing they don't normally kill for fun!!! Tina does her best but the streets of Spain are flooded with stray dogs at this time of year. Sadly a lot of the bitches are pregnant which doesn't help.

She is amazing. The little podenco Crumpet who had 2 broken front legs is doing so well. When I saw her with some of the other dogs I realised how tiny she is. She has a lot of mischief to get up to I'm sure. All the best. Sal
