After Hacienda wrote of her salt inhaler, I took the plunge and bought one. You breathe in through the salt and out through your nose- takes a bit of getting used to. It’s a small pot (glazed) with a mouthpiece on top and the pot is filled with the salt, with little holes underneath to enable the air to filter through the salt. I tried it today for 15 minutes in the morning and 5minutes at 4pm. Both times I coughed up a lot of mucus during and after the session. Anyone else used these how do get on with it.
I saw my gp today and asked him about nebulisers. He says I would probably have to buy one myself. He recommended spending about £50, but then he could prescribe the saline solution. I don’t get on with the carbacystine.I have sarcoid pulmonary fibrosis but have a lot of coughing and mucus problems. He agreed we get very little help compared to the copd group. Seems a bit unfair.
Any recommendations for nebulisers please?

Hi Jomo, Glad you bought the Salt Pipe, Much like mine. Yes it does release Mucus and it helps a lot with my Breathing, It is a starter for me before I do my Breathing Exercises every Morning & Evening, this alone helps to Cough up any Mucus as it is like doing the Huff. I can't really comment on Nebs, I don't use one, hence why I have the salt Pipe. All the Best Hun. xxxx
