Hi everyone, out to pick your brains. I am on 02 24/7. needing 8 lpm means that with flasks of liquid 02 i can still get out in the car and to make the most of this while i can, i need get a mobility scooter of some kind. It has to be lightweight and foldable so i [ a weakling ] can get it in the car and here comes perhaps the big ask, it needs enough power to go up and down a fairly steep incline. I have no experience whatever of these things or their limitations or possibilities. exploring ideas to keep mobile at the moment so grateful for any thoughts , ideas, experiences, info you may be able to throw into the melting pot . If it seems feasible to use a scooter I will be looking at second hand and not concerned with appearance, just ability to do the job
thanks

Depending on severity, with a lung condition there is no such thing as lightweight scooter.
A typical fold up scooter weighs in the region of 25kg, I’ve seen two people required to lift into vehicle neither with lung condition.
The lightest ( Travelscoot) requires a lot of bending to unfold and assemble.
Are you not claiming PIP, can get a mobility vehicle, fitted with hoist gives more options.
If you have someone more able body to assist look on eBay, there are plenty to look at.
For a steep incline you may need at the very least a pavement scooter, which are not usually suited for transporting.
For some ideas look through the catalogue, you can always speak to them on the phone for suitable types considering the type of incline you have mentioned.
Thanks for all that ,appreciated and will be used. Cant really see myself using it outside the incline which takes me down to where I want to be so fingers crossed.

Hi, Stone has already said what I was going to, but just to add that if you are getting PIP, you may be able to get one through motorbility. I would go to one of their shops if you can, they will let you try the different types and see how easy they are to fold and lift, also give lots of good advice. I have similar oxygen requirement, up to 8 ltrs when active, and was awarded the higher mobility allowance, at the time I was only using 4ltrs. My scooter goes up steep inclines, but it is too heavy for me to put in the car. Most shops seem to sell and do the motorbility scheme.
You need to try different scooters to see if they are good enough to get you up the incline I have two that for up to go into the car both Kymco models 6 mph this would get you up an incline easy enough the 4 mph model comfort gets you about it may struggle to go up a very long incline depending on your weight I’m 5ft 11inch 98 kg it gets me about we are taking this on a cruise end of June the other option his get an hoist fitted to your car then again that’s depends on what you are driving good luck with it all I’m on Oxygen 3 ltr ambiglatury
Don't want to be too personal but are you still able to get insurance for a cruise as I assumed we would not be able to with my husbands lung condition. Emphsemia but not on oxygen and mild heart failure
It’s expensive but we went away to Majorca last year they wanted £1250 for a 10 holiday so we have taken out a multi cover insurance cost us £1500 for 12 month cover
Thank you.would you feel able to say who you insured with.as well as my husbands lung and heart condition I have had breast cancer a very rare one and I am now being treated for aN agressive cancer of the ear which is so rare the hospital have almost no information so I hit the jackpot again. I will try to organise find out more about ins.once again thank you.
