Going to see consultant on Wednesday and would appreciate some tips for my first appointment. Developed a cough and shortness of breath and want to get the best out of the appointment.Thank you.

Have an idea about what you want from the appointment. Go with a list of questions. Some people like to have someone else there. A second pair of ears.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I will have to attend on my own. I will try not to get anxious and write down some questions.

Most smart phones have a voice recorder and it might not be a bad idea to record the appointment so you can play it back later if you are unclear about something that was discussed.

Make sure you ask all questions you are unclear about and always be honest when they ask you questions. I say this because a friend of mine played down her symptoms to her consultant which resulted in incorrect medication & in the end she ended up on more than she bargained for. I myself are fairly new to this albeit a bit further on than you. Great idea from Jackdup to record the interview then you won’t miss anything. I’m sorry you are having to go alone, I know how nerve wracking it can be. Deep breaths and big hugs x
