No never tried that. There is a very good quit smoking site on here so why not have a look. x
The book: "The easy way to quit smoking" by Alan Carr makes stopping smoking effortless and easy. Nothing to give up, everything to gain. It has worked for celebrities who give glowing testimonials. Over 10 million copies sold!
You could try quit.org.uk/
Your doc should be able to prescribe patches I think.
and also nhs.uk/smokefree
no you now have to get prescriptions from quit51
You can buy the nicotine replacements from amazon, eBay, online pharmacies, Tesco etc. Rather than wait for quit51 I'd just get yourself something and do it yourself.
As well as the previous 2 links for help and support, there is also a FB group called NHS Smoke free.
And the Quit51 offers the help you are seeking of course. Just keep trying the number, 8am may be a good time to call.
Wishing you every success in quitting.
Hi Compie,
How frustrating - would encourage you to smoke more, I imagine - holding for nothing. I was told the same thing by my Dr. that I had to contact the give up smoking team in order to be able to receive any medicinal help to give up smoking. Probably best to try online.
Good Luck
I imagine this is part of the cost cutting exercise currently in place. Sorry that statement is of no help whatsoever but I would buy myself a packet from eBay or somewhere to tide you over until you get “ assesses “
Good wishes. Hope you get the help you need.

Hi, giving up the cigs is hard, I gave up the habit immediately I was diagnosed with emphysema, the fright helped an awful lot but unfortunately the damage was already done, my lungs are absolutely ruined. I was warned by the Asthma nurse but chose to ignore it, what an idiot. You seem to be trying to give up without any support, my local Chemist was very helpful, although it costs monies for the various packs, if you have a mind to spend the money and take the help, rather than getting no help from a free tel number.
Lungs are precious look after them, I wish I had and now there is no regular treatment available.
Due to my ignorance I only have the possibility of stem cell treatment, far more costly than the various packs available to you. Take the next step, use the local chemist and get shot of the habit, it will pay you in the long run.
