how bad do I have to be to give up work? it's a struggle

I have been off work for a year, my doctor said that I would be unable to get to work for a year or so, if ever as l have too many serious illnesses.

Here in the USA you can get on disability if you’re clinically depressed, morbidly obese, severe alcoholic etc... but you have to fight like hell if you’re only at 25% Fev1 alpha1 ZZ allele. Not that this rambling helped.....

Have you spoken to your consultant. Suppose it would depend on the type of work you do like dusty environment or anything similar not good.f you think you are able to carry on working then all the best. I worked all my life diagnosed 2008 was able to still work. But my breathing I the spring if 2017 took a turn for the worse I worked all day at home with young children. Got to stage where running and chasing games were a definite no no could barely breathe consultant said I needed to pack up work. I realised not fair to the children or parents when I was ringing up saying I was in hospital again.so made heart wrenching decision to give up.

I am at that stage now , such an effort to get showered dressed into building I work in but still tried till one day got into work to end up in an ambulance .. hospital told me to think about giving up work .. going through the process now have changed my role at work but still struggled .. I think you will know yourself when your ready , x

It really is an individual choice, nobody is the same, different jobs have different demands. All I can say is that if you can work then it will keep you active and keep the mind occupied, then of course there are the financial benefits.
