COPD. The Battle Continues!

Sorry I’ve not posted for some time but there has been a lot going on.

Attended Pulmonary Rehab last March for six weeks and did really well. Regular walking and exercises worked miracles; I could even tackle small household jobs again, filling dishwasher, refitting a shelf!

Then, end of November, I came down with a swine of a cold. Has set me right back and I feel so discouraged!

Slowly trying to build up the walking and will try to get referred to PR again but what downer!!

A simple thing like a cold can do real damage to our lives, i was told by a doctor that people with C O P D have a lower immune system and therefore we tend to be vulnerable more often to colds, bronchitis, and flu. myself i have a lot of colds in the winter but can only ride them out, fresh air is good they say but sometimes to weak to go out, when gone to doctors about feeling weak or not well they tell me it is my chest problems and because i am on symbicort400/12, spiriva, and Ventolin they cannot give me anything else so just plod along on my own, hope you feeling better soon

Its so demoralizing when these things knock us back, well done for that wonderful positive attitude starting to build your exercise up is the first step to regaining your ability to do things for yourself not always easy but so esential. Good luck with your recovery and the pr corse

Hi Cronk, its 2 steps forward and 3 back isnt it. Please dont be downhearted, you were doing so well, just keep that in mind. Colds are so hard to get over when you have a lung condition, make sure that you take vitamins d, c and magnesium and eat plenty of good food. Give yourself a little tlc until you get back on your feet x

Hi Cronk I'm sure with your determination you will get back up and carry on, you sound like a positive person who keeps on fighting. I got a cold just before Christmas and it knocked me back weeks, but like you I'm determined to get back to where I was. Keep fighting and stay positive, have a great day and take care of yourself 😊 Bernadette xx

Hi Cronk. Yes its a long battle but I wonder who will the War? Like you it has been a mixed back and forth on going battle for me with this emphysema and COPD but I simply refuse to give up even when I feel like giving up!! It will get better again because you have the right sort of thinking to achieve it. We will be thinking of you.
