After a week of uncertainty I finally had something to take my mind of myself.
Son, daughter in law and grandson buy dog??
Daughter in law doesn’t like dogs (29 and never ever had a pet)
Relented because grandson wanted it
Spent just under £700 for it to mess all over the kitchen, roll in it and poor clean freak mum comes home on lunch break to it (sends me a picture?)
Mum hyperventilates to me on phone (bothered)
Me issued mild lecture that went something like “are you mad” (clean version)
Mum “ I didn’t think it would do that” 🤣🤣 yeah course he will hold it in until you get home from work you raving fruit bat
Now, dog residing with relatives, grandson heartbroken, me fuming and purchased two goldfish called Dave & Billy so he can look after them himself.
Moral of this story is if you are going out to buy something specific, stick to it, unlike me back in the 80’s when Dado Rails were all the rage. I nipped out to our local Fads (anyone remember Fads) ? Guess what I came back with? Yep a German Shepherd. When I got back my husband was waiting to put the dado rail up... hmm Betty 🤣 Thing is the kennels are nowhere near Fads I don’t know how it happened.
So, health wise feeling much better this week. More positive got my sleep study on Monday night and then meeting with Oxygen team on Wed so hoping for Echocardiogram soon after then can start to plan my next few months.
Thanks to you all for being there the last couple of weeks it’s been so much fun... I’m not leaving by the wayjust saying thanks 😁

Your poor grandson and also that poor pup. I hope the relatives want and will keep him? I think this happens a lot at Christmastime. People think they want and can manage a dog or a cat, any animal then reality hits. 😑
It seems like things are moving in a positive direction for you now. I am so very pleased. Take good care of yourself and keep the updates coming. *BIG HUG*
Glad you’re feeling better Julier and hope things continue to improve.
Hoping the poor dog is ok and your grandson looks after the fish.
I remember Fads. We used to have one near to where we live.
Take care xxxx 😘
What a terrible start for the poor puppy. I do hope that they return it to the breeder. It will be traumatised from all of that. A shame for your grandson but my four grandchildren can’t have a dog because of my son’s work patterns and the fact that my daughter in law is not dog friendly. They have a cat who rules the roost and doesn’t care that my daughter in law shows it no affection. Clever you for getting the goldfish!
How awful to get rid of a puppy for being a puppy. I'm a dog owner and animal lover and I hate it when people don't understand what goes into pet ownership and give up so easily. I hope the poor pup isn't too traumatized and finds a more deserving home.
Hi Julie, I Love your sense of Humour. I also brought home an Alsation from the pound along with the Dado rails, had him 15 Years.( he was more Human than Dog). Your D' n Law, I can understand, but Your Grandson being Heart Brocken is not acceptable. The Gold Fish, My oh My , I would have called them Ski's & Don, Not Scruffy the cat, She would have eaten Don. Never mind my wickedness. Glad all is being sorted for you, I had the echocardiogram, on Oxygen, Keeps me going. Keep the wonderful sense of humour Julie. Love n Hugs . XXXXXX
It was during my 4 day assessment for going on the Transplant list. That was 3 years ago. I am still on Oxygen and the Echo was amazing, seeing my Heart & Lungs on Screen. Since then I have had 3 Valves inserted into my right Lung. These Day's I go to Exercise Classes & The Gym (This morning). Biggest problem is putting on weight with the steroids, but in general I feel very well and Cope with it all. Since my Rescue Dog with the dado rails, (A Thousand years ago). I have had other rescue Dogs(12&15 Years), mainly in Spain where I lived for 28 Years. Now settled back here. Princess is my lap dog now, she is a Chuahua. Keep me updated with your Procedure Julier, Keep Strong and Positive Hun. Love n Hugs XXXXX
Thanks for that it’s always useful to know what to expect. Not sure I want to see my heartand lungs though I’m a bit squeamish. You sound like you love your animals as much as I do. I’ll keep you updated and thank you for your support. Love to you too 💕
I seriously think that many people should answer some questions before being allowed to have animals of any sort, like: 'Have you ever looked after another living creature before?', and 'Do you have a clue what you're doing'?? It's not fair on any animal to be shunted from pillar to post because of human ignorance, and I love your story about the homecoming scenario. 😆
I remember Fads as being one of the small DIY/home decor stores - before the likes of B&Q and Homebase took over? We thought they were the 'in thing', along with flared trousers and curly-perms? Very 'Cool'? 😎
A good breeder should cross question a new owner thoroughly before they sell them a dog, but many of the ‘accidental’ breeders don’t bother. If you have never had a dog before then best to get one from the RSPCA or similar where advice will be given and the dog will be trained and socialised. We are now on our seventh dog who is currently sharing the bed while I have my rest!
Maybe a rescue dog would of been a better choice all ready traind. But we live and lern and hopefully the pup will be happy in its new home. Good choice gold fish. Good to hear you are keeping well.
