Could anybody tell me how you get portable oxygen?

If you are living in the UK, Ist you have to have low blood oxygen. you get the usual oxymeter test initially carried out by GP respiratory nurse, then if you have recorded consistently low and show symptoms of low blood oxygen levels, you are referred to the hospital for a stress test and an arterial blood gas test for more accurate information, if your levels are low you will be prescribed oxygen in accordance with your needs. Tailored prescription for the individual.

It has to be agreed by your consultant that you need oxygen. If you go out and about you can arrange with oxygen company to bring out smaller containers

Hi Poppygirl I was referred by my COPD Clinic nurse as my stats were very low consistently. I had a blood gas test and was put on oxygen at home and also portable oxygen. I would suggest you see your GP and ask their advice and ask for the relevant tests. Take care and luck to you
