Boo hiss boo

Began c25k last week, managed 2 runs, then picked up a virus and haven’t been able to run again since. Went out tonight for a fast 20 minute walk but got very short of breath.

Really desperate to get fit this year but am beginning to think my knackered old lungs aren’t going to allow it 😔

Maybe try a treadmill. No cold damp air to contend with. I find the controlled atmosphere in a gym much easier to exercise in, its still not easy but its better than battling with weather and pollution.

Unfortunately cannot afford to go to a gym and don’t know anyone with a treadmill. Cold air is fine , damp can become an issue , and wait til the pollen kicks in, that’s a right barrel of laughs!!!

Yep thear is always something to slow us up or stop us in are tracks. Im lucky i have a exercise bike at home. And the local council gym is reasonably priced even then its not cheep so i tend to use it only in the winter or bad weather. I hope you are soon out running again

Me too, I can’t afford a gym and even if I could afford it, which I can’t, my flat is too small to accommodate gym equipment.

Check out utube Leslie Sansone walking at home, she has a new challenge for 2019. I’ve found her videos very helpful in the winter.

One thing though is I’m not mad about her voice to turn off sound so listen to play on Radio 4extra or music.

I also use the yoga videos starting at beginners and working up. I do go to a class at my local council sports centre once a week which is great. As I have a monthly suscription I can go as many times as I like to classes, swimming pool (aqua aerobics class), well equipped gym, it’s also valid for all my local council spots centres...it saves me a fortune and I also get a senior discount.

I hope this is some help, they will keep you fit until the sun rises to W warmer weather.

Thankyou for that, I’ve justvlooked at her videos so may give that a try.

Agree with you on the voice though! Headphones maybe.

How disappointing! But I'd be really careful not to push yourself into overdoing the exercise, it's so tempting when you feel well-ish otherwise & are desperate to get fitter, but can lower your immune system & mean you pick up every bug around. Also I've found exercising outside when it's really cold is just too much of an insult to my poor lungs, they almost seize up! I've got one of those mini trampolines which provide good cardio-vascular exercise and also help increase bone mass. Right now I'm having a major setback with my breathing but I still try a minute or so walking on the trampoline, then when I've recovered from that I do another minute. Over a whole day I'll maybe manage a total of 10 mins. It's not much but better than nothing I reckon & of course my aim is to build on it.
