The 3 tests

Has anybody had the 3 tests one of which is sitting in a booth following instructions. I have these tests on the 27 Dec. I am not worried in the slightest i look at it as a morning out with a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake in the cafe, easily pleased.

Hi Chad yes, its the full lung function test at the hospital, this is has much improved over the years, the glass booth is a more recent addition, have you had the polo mint (CT scan) as well?

Both the full lung function and CT scan gives the consultant a very good indication of what is going on.

Good luck with your test results and always enjoy a cuppa and piece of cake when out :) My local hospital has a restaurant and 2 coffee shops so that is a bonus :D

Hi Bkin, no I have not had the polo mint scan. Just a c.t. scan.

:D ha ha that is what I call the CT scan 'the polo mint scan' as its in the shape of a polo mint :D

Hi Red Sox thanks for the advise, i will have my drink after my pft. Just hope I can blow a good score without a coughing bout. I might have some Benoline just before to settle it down.

Hi Chad,

Follow the advice they give you before the tests, you have to stop certain drugs 3 days before, some 24 hours before and some 12 hours before even tea/coffee/cola drinks so many hours before your tests (as confirmed by RedSox) or you will get false readings.

I have had these tests done 3 or 4 times now, I even had 1 test in the middle of an exacerbation.

Hi tuckbox yes my letter says not to use my subutanol inhaler but i must take my duaklir inhaler. I was only joking about Benoline trying to remain upbeat instead of complaining.

The tests don't take too long, and you can stop if you feel they are too much, but you should sail through them,

Yep I've had them done. When I was in the glass box I ended up having a bad do, coughing and struggling to breath! They had to put me on a nebuliser and they then wanted me to stay at he hospital for a while, but it was my grandsons 21st and he was waiting in the car outside for me to take him to Manchester, anyway, it all went well in the end, certainly nothing to be scared/worried about. X
