Pulmonary Rehab Session No 13

Well no actually, I didn't make No 13.

I had been up since around 2 am suffering with mucus removal, or at least trying to remove it. I had tried all the usual ways, the huffing cough, flutter device and a couple of shots of Ventoline. At around 5 am I had a shot of Ventoline and as I was taking it , something felt as though it had thumped me VERY hard straight into my sternum, it felt so violent that it stopped me inhaling mid stream.

It was very scary, and I waited and checked for all the signs you would associate with a problem heart wise, nothing showed so I assumed I had either cracked a rib or severely pulled a/ some muscles. This situation has persevered all day and is very painful when I breath in deeply. ( not a good place to be when I get out of breath so quickly?!? ).

So there you go, I was so proud that I had persevered with attending the PR course in its entirety and I haven't made it. It's not looking too clever for Friday's session either.

Peed off doesn't even come close.

Stay safe and warm everyone , catch up with you soon.

Chris xx

Thanks Carole that's much appreciated, how's Pete? Has h come to terms with Hostpital over Christmas ? . I'm sure it's in his best interest for him to be there. Best wishes to you both.

Petes very low Chris and it’s so very sad. He wants to go home and one doctor said next Wednesday apparently. I do wish they wouldn’t do that. I’m hoping he can be home for Christmas, best present ever.

Love to both. Xxx 💖😘

So sorry to hear things are not coming along any quicker. I truly feel bad for both of you and understand what it is like to see a loved sick and there is nothing you can do but be there. I hope he will start showing improvement and feeling better soon. I sure hope and will pray he will be home for Christmas.

Oh no, how disappointing for you. What happened sounds pretty scary though. I think Sassy is right and you should maybe speak with your doctor. Take care of yourself and I hope you feel a bit better soon.

Sorry to hear you didn't make your session of PR.

Just a thought, since you seem to have a problem with mucous, have you tried Carbocysteine tablets? They seem to sort that problem out .

Hope the pain in your chest subsides so you are able to return to the class,

Stay strong

Hello Chris. Sorry to hear about ur problems. Can u get back on the rehab trail again? I know it does us good and u meet a lot of nice people. I have just been diagnosed with a blood clot in my lung and am taking pills 💊 for it, and to take them for the rest of my life, this was after I had a hip replacement op. I am going to go twice a week again in Jan. I really feel a lot better when I have been and the exercises at home. Have u been anywhere about ur pain something don’t sound right have it checked out. Maybe if u tell your doctor what happened about PR he may put u forward for it again. Maybe worth a try, if that is what u want. Anyway u look after yourself and enjoy the festivities if possible. Best wishes. 👍🤓🎅

Thanks very much for your input, it's appreciated. I am going to PR tomorrow to see the boss Pulmonary physio, she already told me last week that I may be allowed to stay on the course for an extende period, so I don't necessarily think I've lost the rest of this course. From previous experience as a fire service first aid instructor I already know that cracked ribs or pulled chest or intercostal muscles are virtually untreatable apart from painkillers. I probably wouldn't get a doctors appointment and I'm certainly not bothering the Aand E team.

Looking forward to seeing my friends at PR team tomorrow.

Cheers

Chris

Hi Chris, mucodyne tablets help me keep this under control, think you would be wise to see the doctor with that pain in your sternum and ask about getting back on your exercise classes. Good luck x

Have been taking Mucodyne for years. My head Pulmonary physio has advised me to cease taking them as after prolonged use they become ineffective, and I must admit this has certainly become the case.

Cheers

Thanks for this advice Chris, maybe I will cut back and only take it when really needed.

Please don't take my word as gospel. The advice I was given probably should only be taken by me. You could ask your health expert what their view is on this subject.
