It's not been a good day and I'm feeling quite down now about it...

Last week I felt so much better and the last couple of days bit downhill again. Dry hacking a bit and getting breathless, week 6 of Bronchitis and I know the symptoms do linger on for a long time as Ive had it last 3 years running. But today went to meet two friends at Bluewater and found cos I was talking more I felt really out of breath, thank goodness I always take my salbutamol with me. Then we all went in Debenhams and I had to walk straight out again and wait outside, the perfume counters! Lord only knows how anyone can work in there with the smell!

When I'm not poorly i hardly ever use my reliever inhaler I mean perhaps once a month if that. But as autumn starts and I get a Bronhcitis infection I need to use it 3 or 4 times a day. I think the cold weather doesn't help it I think.

I'm so tired and getting fed up with it now. I start a new job next Monday and I'm going full time 8.30-3.30 I'm a cover teacher in a school. I was so excited about it and now I'm thinking how will I manage teaching all day when I'm like this!

Anyhow I'm seeing the consultant tomoro and I'll ask a million questions and hoepfully will start to get better soon. Haven't been able to have so much fun with my gorgeous son and feel a bit like a rubbish mum.

Sorry to be a misery but shouldve had been a really nice day and turned out to be not much fun.

Sorry to hear you sounding so down but it must have been great to have a day out even if it wasn’t perfect.

I hope you get some answers to your questions and wish you well for tomorrow. You’re not a rubbish mum just a poorly one.

Take care dear Shancock xxxx

Thank you for being so kind. I was feeling better and now feel like I've reversed! Silly of me to have gone today, think the cold weather may have halted things. I need sleep so may take a Piriton tonight as that might help.

"Then we all went in Debenhams and I had to walk straight out again..." Snap, along with a lot of other stores and even some malls. Believe it or not all these "perfumes" actually affect the healthy too. I posted a study some time ago that showed that it affects over 20% of the healthy population.

With stores closing down, you would think that they would look at the real issues of what is driving customers away properly, instead of just bleating about online sales. Why are people shopping online? Sure it is convenient, but photos of products do not come close to eyeballing and feeling texture and weight etc. Eliminate the smellies and attract 20% + more customers.

Maybe you’re right, 2greys. I too dread the perfumes first in department stores. It’s certainly easier to be an online shopper for me these days.

If I walk past the shop Lush, I have to cover my face! The pong is horrendous!

Yes I agree, my goodness can you imagine what it must be like to work there! I think I'd rather a sewer to be honest.

Oh dear, Shancock, I feel your pain, about the outing, with extra talking being difficult, the perfumes in Debenhams and the feeling of having to rush to get well for work.

Six weeks, no wonder you’re feeling down!

Hope things pick up soon for you, though your teaching job in winter with all those lovely children and their colds sounds a tadge risky to me I’m afraid. Best of luck anyway. Penny x

I know your right! But it's my job, I did my qualifications few years ago so I could work the hours round my children, as a school job works for me I can still be home for my son.

I just make sure I frequently wash my hands like nuts! I always bring tissues with me for the children and hand sanitizer and I teach them to cough intimate their elbows.

But yes, maybe if I wore an Ebola suit I'd have better luck!

Yes, be meticulous about hygiene. Haha! about the Ebola suit....😂 feels like that sometimes! I used to teach so I know the problems. Good luck 🍀

sorry to hear the cold weather and the perfume counters have upset you. 2greys is right these smells are counter productive for many people. Get those million questions answered and don't forget you are a good mum despite being poorly.

Thank u, im seeing her later today. Had tests done last yr an nothing unusual wss on the CT an my spirometry was good 119% predicted for fev1 i think.

But just had another CT an load of samples taken so I'll see today.

In the past ive had chronic sinusitis an had an op in Feb this year for it which has dramatically improved my poor nose. But i also get reflux which effects my chest an take 600mg ranitidine fir it a day, i may have a procedure called Linx done for that. But hopefully get some news today an we can take it from there.

I feel better now shes put me on 2 antibiotics so theyre doing the job!

Hi Hun, Sounds like your in Control. A FEV1 of 119% seems High, Best to check it out as there other Test Numbers associated with your Spirometry. I would be very happy with half that Number, I'm FEV1 26% just dropped at my last Lung Function, But I am way ahead With COPD and I am Living OK with Oxygen and I Exercise Daily, Long Term AB's for me are Excellent. Stay Positive Hun and Live a Happy Career. xxxxx

Oh yes the perfume counters in stores and on people are a nightmare for lung issues. I know it restricts my life so much. We live in an apartment and the perfume smells from air fresheners in bathrooms etc come down through the vents and it is such a problem. I use 2 air purifiers in our apartment. I hope you feel better soon and can spend some happy time with your dear little son. Best wishes from Oz.
