I stopped smoking in 1994 but recently i fell off my bike and had to go for an x-ray which was followed by a ct scan. i found out that i have a bulla on my lung. i have flown 8 times this year and am due to fly next week short haul to Spain. I assume that i have had this bulla for some time , but i am now worried that this might burst whilst on the plane. What are the chances of this happening

Hi I have a 12cm x 6cm Bulla and was told by one consultant to take only short haul flights and by another ok to fly anywhere so I just fly anywhere there is a risk with the cabin pressure but we all take risks everyday check with your doctor or consultant first just to make sure but as you said you have most likely had it years
Hello my doctor ( not my normal one ) said i shouldn't fly with a bulla. is this normal GP practice or is their a likelihood of it bursting. I haven't smoked since 1994 so i have probably flown 100 times since then. I understand that airlines don't allow you to fly with copd but this isn't that is it?
If you have flown that many times without having a problem than I think that says it all, but if your still concerned ask to see a consultant for his opinion, I fly and don't think about it anymore there's always something that can kill you lol
Fly baby fly! Of course I am not a doctor so that is not legal advice haha
It's just a thought?? If doctors have to keep your medical history confidential unless you give them permission to disclose information, how can insurance companies find out if you don't disclose all your ailments. For example if you fall and break a leg skiing...what has copd got to do with a claim, but they say they won't pay because you didn't declare it, rip off and bump up your premiums!!
