Good Afternoon everyone, can I ask if anyone else suffers with stomach bloating because of their meds and COPD. I take a large amount of meds together with a daily dose of 5mlg of prednisolone. I also have 02 on 24/7 and use a NIVI ventilation mask overnight, which I come off before I go to work. My question is does anyone else have any hacks or solutions on how to reduce their swollen stomachs.
All suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
Kind regards and have a great Sunday.

Hi, Joseph. My late husband Bob had severe COPD and used to get a badly swollen stomach because he was allergic to cows milk. It might be worth spending a fortnight using soya milk or almond milk and avoiding other products with milk, lecithin or lactose in to see if you get an improvement. Don't stay on such a limiting diet for longer than that unless you supplement your calcium intake, as prednisolone can cause osteoporosis and low calcium intake would make that worse.
Hi there, I am after suggestion to relieve the bloating as nothing seems to work. Even eating smaller regular meals doesn’t help. My inhalers are ventilin, fostair and spiriva. Like I said earlier any daily hacks or suggestions would be greatly appreciate.
The way it works is to relax the smooth muscle in the lungs, allowing the airways to open wider.
The wave effect (peristalsis) that moves food along your gut also uses smooth muscle.
In some people, the relaxation effect caused by Spiriva in the lungs, spills over to the intestinal muscle nearby and it 'freezes', slowing down/stopping peristalsis in that section, allowing the chime to ferment & causing an uncomfortable tucked up/stuffed belchy feeling just below rib cage.
Thank you for getting back to me. I always drink plenty of water to aid in bringing my mucus up. I am never constipated I am always regular it just seams that my stomach is constantly bloated and I just wondered how other people out there with our conditions try and combat this with either OTC meds or anything else?
