I miss your pictures, scenery, flowers, family photos, HealthUnlocked sort it out please!!!
Anyway I packed my case, leaving tomorrow to Mum’s. She is in hospital. Had the operation on her toe yesterday I hope, she was still waiting at 8pm.
She told me I had to sign a paper, I think they are taking away part of my toe!
My heart jumped! I said may I talk to the nurse who explained she has an abcess under the nail, it will have to be cut, cleaned and sutured. I think that means removing the nail.
Poor Mum 90 to be 91 in 3 weeks.
So she didn’t know if they would do a general or a local because of her age.
I phoned Bea and asked her to book the train for me on the Internet. I am useless at those things. So 8.38 am tomorrow morning is the only direct one.
I should be in time for the afternoon visiting with a box of Swiss chocolates!
Yes that’s life..A nuisance she lives far from me and I can’t travel by plane anymore. Some people think moving away for retirement is fun in their sixties but end up isolated away from their family in their eighties!
So had to look after Dad in Switzerland and Mum in France. I remained in Switzerland because I can’t be bothered moving again..Too late to move Mum closer to me I think..She will not be convinced.
I saw you have to look after Sharon too..we are all patients and carers nowadays..and parents!!!
I am on the iphone so that’s the mobile version, isn’t it? I expect they are looking into it.
Oh Fran, I don't know how you do it , all this Travelling and being poorly yourself. Yes, your Mum must be a little frightened and needs you. I can commiserate with you being so far away. I too came back to Uk after bringing my Daughter up in Spain, no regrets other than COPD & Transplant List stopping me from Flying out there, especially when she had Breast Cancer. Yes, in 60's coming back to a different way of life, being iLL then Diagnosed here. Your Mum is a wonder Woman, I know her Daughter Takes after her. ABrazos Y Mucho Besos ati y tu Madre Carino. xxxxx
You are kind Carolina..you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do..when you need to take care of people dear to you, you don’t think about yourself really.
Is your mum in Paris? Or perhaps on the coast, sorry I cannot remember! Anyway, take care of yourself as well. Hoping Ma doesn't suffer too much, it must be quite painful. X
If using a smart phone, just change to the mobile version.

I do hope your journey and arrival goes well for you. What we do for these aging parents! I hope too that your Mum’s toe problem gets resolved very soon. Sounds as though her mobility might be affected for a while too. Oh dear!
Let us know how things go, my friend 💞
Can’t think how we’ll manage, let alone you, if you have no access to photos on here. How very ANNOYING!! 😳 I won’t use the merde emoji for decency’s sake 😱🤣
I guess so..I expect the GP/hospital will organise day care but I was worried about night care..I don’t want her to risk a fall..So will see once there if I can find somebody..
I did happen across a night nurse agency once when struggling with my housebound Mum, through her broken wrist phase, and after pain, which required painkillers round the clock......they were very willing and kind, but a very expensive option, only useful in the short term. Maybe the time has come for a spell in a nursing home?? At least you’d know she had help to hand, though falls, I afraid can happen anywhere....especially if she’s the independent type, like her daughter !
Good luck, Fran 🍀 and your Mum 🍀
Lots of love and a bear 🐻 hug, Penny xx These times take a lot of resilience 🧚🏻♀️
Yes I will have to look for an agency night nurse. Haven’t got a choice.
She is not the type to be told what to do 😉 She won’t leave where she is..So one day at a time 😃
It seems the surgeon came by, told her they are analysing whatever it was and she won’t come out until he has results. He told her he wants her to walk a little, for her blood circulation I suppose, she is anxious poor thing.
Why would he analyse it?? On a toe??
I couldn’t say, I said it was standard procedure, to see which bacteria it was, to find the right antibiotic..
In a way if he is willing to keep her in hospital, it gives me time to organise things.
At least Mum is safe in the hospital Happy friend and she will enjoy those Swiss chocolates i am sure, though not so much as seeing her daughter again,no doubt you will get a ticking off for no reason whatsoever which will be a good sign that Mum is recovering well.we will have to get you a roving ambassadors passport soon, either that or a rail pass.
Safe travelling, hopefully we will be able to see your pics even if you can't see ours.
Hi Fran, I do hope your Mum is recovering well, at her age it is a worry and bless her can understand she wants to go home. Hope she has a happy 91st birthday and you both enjoy the day together. Travel safe. Irene x
Hi Fran hope your mums toenail op goes well and you have a safe journey. I'm sure mum will be a bit incapacitated for a while but them chocs will perk her up. We used to buy them for my mum because they were individually wrapped she loved them . Best wishes xx
I hope your mum agrees to come back with you - it’s so much easier to keep an eye our parents when they are close by! My mum has moved into a retirement apartment now, much better than the huge house she lived in, but it hasn’t really made things any easier for my sister and I! Just getting her flu jab organised was like organising a military expedition!
