Zonda inhaler, is this just me?

Does anyone using the zonda inhaler with the brantus capsule find that after inhaling they are left with a sweet powder like film on the roof of their mouth right at the back. I am sure I am using it the correct way but am wondering just how much is inhaled and how much swallowed.

Well you don't want to swallow it Magsann1, you want it to go down into your lungs. When you take a puff, close your mouth for a count of 10 so the powder goes into your lungs. I use this once every day, as it replaces the Spiriva that I used to have.

I am sure I am using it correctly there’s only one way really that you can close your mouth around it and suck deeply back. I always hold my breath after doing this for about 10 seconds then blow gently out. It’s the sweet film I can taste/ feel at the roof of my mouth right at the back that makes me wonder what this could be. I will mention it to doc or nurse next time. In the meantime if anyone else experiences this please let me know 😊xx

I have just done mine. I tilt my chin up very very slightly and tuck the tip of my tongue just behind my teeth, quite relaxed though. Seems to work. Good luck. While you are talking about Braitus, do you find it wears off late afternoon? I take mine early morning, it doesn't seem to last until evening.

It is supposed to last 24 hrs. I can’t compare as I’ve only been put on it 3 weeks. Please just run your tongue round back of your upper mouth roof

tomorrow immediately after using it and see do you feel anything, or taste the sweet powder. Best wishes xx

Hi Magsann, I see that there is the tiniest trace of lactose in each dose so it's quite likely there will be a hint of sweetness

Thank you! I appreciate your reply. I had a word with my pharmacist and she tells me that whatever inhaler your on you will always have a little hit the back of your mouths roof with the braktus containing lactose this is the sweet residue I’m tasting. Guess I’m ultra sensitive because she watched me use it and assured me I’m using it correctly.

Same for me Magsann. Just been changed to the Braltus and it was the first thing I noticed.

Hi Monidee I am still experiencing this every day three months in to usage. So glad it’s not just me that’s noticed it. I shall discuss it with my doctor at my review in December as I’m sure if there is an even small amount collecting at the back of the roof of your mouth you can’t be getting the measured dose needed. Thank you for letting me know. Keep well x
