Sadly my namesake Bess had stroke at 2.30am. She was my constant companion with an ability to make me laugh even at my lowest times. As her name suggests she was not the most obedient dog in the world and her list of crimes was infamous within family and friends. May you Rest in peace old girl.

I’m so sorry to hear this news about your companion. May you be comforted by all who care for you and by your memories of her 🌹
I am so sorry to hear that. There aren't really any words that can help so I'll just say I'm thinking of you 💐
Badbessie, I'm so sorry! It hurts so much to lose them. She looks a right imp, beautiful and maybe a wee bit stubborn? Full of love, a dash of mischief, no dog would be complete without it. I hope the memories of her crimes bring comfort through the tears. Wishing you peace, one day at a time. TomTitTot
I would not say a wee bit stubborn. Totally stubborn would be a more accurate description..lol. She was an escape artist par excellence. She stole my Christmas dinner whilst I served others. Her list of crimes goes on and on! However her ability to make me laugh at her antics made her very special. A gentle giant who the children loved.
Brings back memories of my criminals, the holes dug, the zippers chewed, the bedding dragged outside...
Oh, and my neighbor's favourite, " Tristan, stop barking! Shut up! I'm on the phone. Pause... It's long distance!"
Something I read once, "Remember the loving, and not the loss."
They're so special, our furry ones, my Norrie is ten now, my last big boy (over 7 st) and even the thought of losing him hurts.
I hope you are like me, that when the pain eases a bit, you'll find another. I can not walk long into an empty house, and so so, many need homes. I sometimes think I need them even more than they need me. And, for all the ache of losing them, I have treasured every one.
Keeping you in my thoughts,
TomTitTot
My heartfelt condolences to you. I know you have so many wonderful memories to cherish. Sending hugs.
Cas xx 🌹

Your memories of Bess will continue to make you laugh and will overcome this period of loss and sadness at the departure of a loved companion,so bark on Bess and make mischief wherever you roam.
love Ski's and Scruffy x
Very sad to lose your faithful companion, it might have been sudden but at least, I hope, she did not suffer.
She was 14 which for such a large dog is a very good age. Happily she had a very illness free life. Thankfully it was very quick and she did not suffer.
That is good to hear she did not suffer and at 14 has had a good run. One of the reasons that I got my parrots was not to have to go through a time such as yours, pain in the neck as they are sometimes, especially with my breathing problems. I would not give them up and go that extra mile and cost to keep them, they will outlive both Sharon and myself, I can actually see my grandson ending up keeping them.
"My Heart goes out to you with your sad loss...x..Megan..."
We know they eventually have to go,
But that does little to ease the blow.
So sorry. Don.
Oh I am so sorry. Bless her and you, and be glad that you gave her a good life Sheila xx
So sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved pet. Sending you my deepest sympathy. I’m sure you have so many happy memories of her, which will help you through this sad time. Love and hugs.
So sorry to read this. Losing a favourite pet is heartbreaking 😢
I'm so sorry for you BB. Many of us have lost a beloved loyal dog so have an inkling of the sadness. It's very hard, glad your Bessie lasted so long and didn't suffer. Peege xxx
I am so very very sorry and upset for you to hear this sad news. What a beautiful picture of a wonderful friend and companion. So glad you have treasured memories of lovely Bess, so full of love and spirit.
With love

Sad to hear of your sad news i am sure you both shared many a adventure x
Thank you all for your kind comments. I think on reflection that perhaps how suddenly she died was a blessing. She did not suffer and at the end was surrounded by the people who cared for her most.
I think you're right, Badbessie, she probably knew nothing about it and just fell asleep, happy and peacefully as she usually did.
We lost a much loved 14 year old dog, Flora, but she had several weeks of illness then we had to make the very difficult decision to have her put to sleep.....very very hard. Like your Bessie though, she'd had a happy life, giving and getting lots of love ❤️ Big hug to you xx
So sorry to hear your sad news about your best friend passing Badbessie. Just hold on to your happy memories of her and talk about her to friends and family, laughing about the naught times as well, it helps you come to terms with her passing. God Bless Bess and you my friend. Chin up and take care of yourself. 🌹xx
So sorry to hear about the loss of your lovely fur baby. Cx
So sorry for the loss of your much loved pet. Lovely photo. Majt
You have my sympathy. Bess looked like she was very wise. Along, with being beautiful.
Take care.
Meg xx
So sorry to hear my thoughts and prayers are with you. X
I know how you feel, recently had to take the decision to have our 15 year old springer spaniel put to sleep as he was so poorly, and I miss him still. The memories are a comfort.
So sad for you. xx Moy
My heart goes out to you, they're not just dogs, they are family x x x
Oh Badbessie, my heart goes out to you! I lost a beloved puss a week and a half ago and it's the most awful feeling ever! I can imagine your grief and just want to give you a big hug!
Lost my dog Clyde to a stroke two years ago they are always with you in all the memories you shared together
Oh im so so sorry Badbessie looks so adorable ...much like my dog we had and am sad right now as it brings back such memories of my beautiful springer spaniel who we had to have put down ..I just wish he had died in his sleep as i still cry over him now although im going back many years they just bring everything to our lives fortunately time is a healer but i have never got another pet to this day as the pIn is just too much when we lose them ...unfortunately my partner got us a cat which im still not pleased about but to be he has grown on me ...please think Badbessie will be queen wherever she is now xxx take care xx mel xx
Bess was half springer, one quarter mountain dog and one quarter great English Mastiff. A very lively 45kg fur ball. She had a brother call Bert. They were twice the size of the other 3 puppies. Temperament wise Bess was a gentle giant. My grandkids are heartbroken.
I bet they are im upset just looking at her face on the pic just so chilled and happy ....our Benji used to smile when we used to get home he was just so soft but he too was a bit on the larger side but i wud say its called them being spoilt ...he lived to a good age as did your Badbessie so they where cared for well ...I really do sympathise with you and wish you have better days to come xx
It never gets easier no matter how many times you go through it - I feel so sad for you. I lost my old feller to lymphoma almost nine years ago now, I could have put him through chemo which would have given him a month or two more and would have made him lethargic and incontinent and, for a feisty and very clean dog, would have made him unhappy. I decided to give him the best time ever for as long as I could and on the day he could wag his tail but not lift his tired little head my lovely vet came and helped him over the bridge. Still blinded by tears when I think of it. So glad your girl had an easier exit but it must have been an awful shock for you. I swore no more dogs but within a month.....! Just can't stand a dogless house.
I have said the same! No more dogs....watch this space as my daughter as other ideas.
What a sad heartfelt message you sent ....we really are a nation of cat and dog lovers aren't we ... how upsetting that must,ve been (sorry Badbessie for butting in on your lovely post) but even after so long we are all still affected as these pets are such loved , cherished members of our families dont you agree ?xx
Could not agree more. I remember each of my dogs. Each had their own character. After every one I said no more. However the next one always seemed to come along.
I am so sorry. Run free sweetheart OTRB with a gentle breeze in your face and the Sun on your back.
That is really too bad and so sad. It is always difficult losing a pet no matter how it happens.
So sorry for this, my heart goes out to you, I know how distressing it is to lose a beloved pet. Take care. X
Sorry to hear of your loss🐞
(((Hugs))) Badbessie. They leave such a gap in our lives when they're gone, but we wouldn't be without them during the short time they journey with us.
