I do not know if there is a guide per se, what I do know is, that it does not take very long for your muscles to de-condition, a matter of only 10 to 14 days and you'll really notice it, "Use it or lose it".
Hello. It might be an idea to ask your GP to refer you to a Pulmonary Rehab course, usually two sessions per week for six weeks, including exercises aimed to help you improve your fitness and education about how to get the most out of your life with a lung condition. When I went, I found out I was hyperventilating when exercising, which made me seem worse than I actually am.
When I was diagnosed with moderate COPD, I was only walking about 2500 steps a day. Now I usually do 10,000, and often more. I started using a simple pedometer and aimed to improve the amount of steps per day: first 3000, then 5000, and so on.
Good luck to you as you try to improve your health.
Good morning. I think that exercise and weight loss are the 2 main things to combat emphysema. I have got emphysema and my consultant told me to lose weight (I was 15st 12lbs and am now 13st 11lbs) I managed this by cutting out snacking between meals and have quite a bit of salad. I also go to Pulmonary rehabilitation, where we do exercises and quite a lot of walking. Since losing the weight and exercising I have found life a lot more easier. Only do what u r capable of, don’t overdo it.Hope this of some help. Best wishes. 👍🤓

Hi, I've got emphysema and have put on weight, unfortunately I cannot get up any gradient and so have an electric scooter. Your GP or nurse will tell you if you have Emphysema or COPD and you should be on an inhaler of sorts. If you think it might only be a weight problem the practice should tell you.

I had no idea that exercise was the best medication for emphesyma until I was made aware of it by some folks here and in other forum. When you exercise, you muscles will be conditioned to use less oxygen. Again, discuss it with your doc, but for everyone there is a level of tolerance to exercise, you have to find yours. Monitor your oxygene level as your excercise so you do not deprive your body from adequate oxygen. Once you find your level, then you can add more little by little and that will bring you more strenght. You will be surprised what you can achieve.
Good luck
